Overview

Greve Cottage is a charming cottage in a small hamlet next to the ancient standing stone of Morphie in the very south of Kincardineshire, in the valley of the River North Esk. Just 3 miles from St Cyrus and its magnificent beach, 3 miles from the village of Marykirk and just over 4.5 miles from Montrose.

This beautifully converted countryside cottage has been renovated with care to create a cosy holiday home, surrounded by picturesque farmland. On a clear day, you can see the Cairngorm mountains in the distance.

The fully equipped kitchen has been fitted out with everything you need for your self-catering getaway including a dishwasher, washing machine and a double oven. This seamlessly joins with the dining space so you can enjoy quality time with your family or friends while preparing meals.

Relax in the high-ceilinged living room with plenty of natural light coming in through the windows that frame the charming surroundings, and enjoy the comfort of the wood-burning stove for cosy evenings in. The sitting room opens out onto a large, enclosed garden where you can relax and soak in the views.

Perfect for families or a get-together with friends, Greve Cottage sleeps up to 6 guests. Downstairs, you will find an ensuite bedroom with bunk beds. Upstairs, you will find a further twin bedroom with lovely views. The master bedroom and the twin room share a jack-and-jill ensuite bathroom, with both a shower and a bath for added convenience.

Enjoy the spacious garden with outdoor seating areas for relaxing and enjoying the picturesque surroundings, or alfresco meals and an outhouse that has been converted into a social space with a cosy wood burner and ample seating for enjoying the warmth of the fire and making memories. There is ample private parking on the grounds of the cottage.

There are plenty of walking and biking tracks near the cottage and in the wider area to explore, from hill walks to beach and cliff walks, you will be spoilt for choice. If you like a challenge, try the twin Munros of Mayar and Driest in Glen Clova, or Mount Keen, the most easterly of the Munros, all with breathtaking views and the chance of spotting wildlife.

If you enjoy winter sports, a scenic drive will take you to the ski centres at Glenshee (56 miles) and Lecht (59 miles). Both destinations offer chairlifts that provide outstanding views of the surrounding landscape. Whether you're an avid skier or simply want to experience the breathtaking scenery, these ski centres have something for everyone. The summer chairlifts are also available to mountain bikers eager to tackle the trails and tracks on offer.

The stunning, long beach at St Cyrus runs for 3 miles from the mouth of the River North Esk near the village of St Cyrus to the mouth of the South Esk River at Montrose and is part of St Cyrus National Nature Reserve (NNR). It is a lovely sandy beach that is surrounded by dunes and red granite cliffs and is accessible via the NNR Visitor Centre or the cliff path.
