Those who want to see as much of Scotland as possible during their visit will find an excellent base for them to do so at Kilbryde Smiddy. On the Kilbryde Castle Estate just 3 miles from Dunblane (all facilities) between Stirling and Perth, this former Victorian farm building has been beautifully converted to create a charming and very comfortable holiday home.

It stands at the end of the private road in a walled and hedged garden (patio, furniture, barbecue and plenty of parking) about half a mile from the castle itself. It is such a haven of rural peace and seclusion that it is hard to believe that it is only a couple of miles from the M9 motorway.
Facing south and west and thus bright and sunny, the open plan living area has a wood-burning stove to supplement the electric heating and solar panels. From there French doors open to the patio, which affords wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. One bedroom is a king-size double with en suite shower and the other is a twin room with adjoining bathroom.
Lucky guests are welcome to visit the superb castle gardens, which are usually only open by special arrangement or on designated open days. The Estate is a haven for wildlife, with red kites being regular visitors - the feeding station at Argaty can be visited and is very close by.
As far as touring is concerned, there are just so many possibilities from Kilbryde. Stirling (8 miles) with its castle and Wallace Monument, Edinburgh (45 miles), Perth (29 miles) and Glasgow (33 miles) are all easily accessible in under an hour. Loch Lomond (41 miles) and the lovely Trossachs (31 miles) are also just as close.
Golfers will find many excellent courses to choose from and may even consider a round at Gleneagles itself - it is, after all, only 14 miles up the A9! Doune Castle, again just down the road, is also well worth a visit. For something even more exotic, from Easter to October the Blair Drummond Safari Park is a must for a family days out!
The Queen Elizabeth Forest Park can be accessed just beyond the popular tourist town of Callander (11 miles) and there, Ben Ledi offers a challenge to walkers, though there are many other delightful walks in the more immediate area. Fishermen will find sport either in the Teith or in the Lake of Menteith (Scotland's only lake - all the others are lochs!) and indeed all sporting and cultural interests are very well catered for locally.
