This traditional cottage has been brought right up-to-date whilst retaining appealing original features such as its gothic arched windows and the open fires in both the sitting room and kitchen that keep it cosy throughout. Snuggle up on the comfy seating in the sitting room after enjoying a lingering meal in the dining kitchen and plan out which of the many nearby activities to try out first.
Laid out on the same level is the bright and airy master bedroom that has a lovely king-size bed and an en suite shower room with a walk-in shower. Three steps then lead up to a spacious and chic twin bedroom, a second attractive double bedroom and a modern bathroom with a bath and shower over.
Plenty of parking is provided right by the door and the sizeable grassed garden is fenced off and secure so it is particularly suitable for children and pets. Mature trees surround the garden and seating has been positioned around in order to make the very most of the superb views of the loch. The outside patio seating area allows for a spot of al fresco dining whilst admiring the boats bobbing out in the water.
From the garden steps lead directly down to a private little pebbly beach where there is a large fire pit right at the loch’s edge with logs set up around it to sit on for a real campfire experience. There is also a little boathouse that has a table tennis table that can be made use of whatever the weather.
Video Walkthrough
For a small village Luss (1.25 miles) is very well catered for. A good range of gifts, homeware and fashion items (including traditional tartan) can be found at the Luss General Store less than 5 minutes’ drive away and the Loch Lomond Arms Hotel is the perfect place to stopoff for a drink or a meal.
The pier at Luss is a great viewpoint from which to admire the gorgeous clear waters of the loch and the families of ducks and swans that call it home. It is also a pick-up/drop-off point for various cruises on the loch or out to the unspoilt Inchcailloch island that is fascinating to explore.
Loch Lomond Adventures offer a good range of activities for guests with everything from guided kayaking and canoeing, waterskiing and banana boating to wakeboarding and paddleboarding. Mountain bikes and pedalos can be hired and back on dry land have a go at archery, axe throwing or a thrilling Segway ride.
Balloch (8 miles) is the place to stock up on supermarket supplies and from the train station there it is possible to get into the centre of Glasgow in only about 45 minutes for a day trip of sightseeing or shopping.
Munro baggers will be spoilt for choice as there are 21 different munros within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. At the RSPB Loch Lomond reserve over on the other side of the loch ospreys, redstarts and various species of geese can be spotted as well as colourful dragonflies and damselflies.
