This traditional cottage has been brought right up-to-date whilst keeping attractive features such as the window shutters and half moon style windows and doors that add to its character and charm.
Everything has been laid out on the one level and is open plan with double windows that flood the room with light and show off the loch. At one side of the room is a comfy seating area with an elegant dining kitchen at the other end. After enjoying a meal together in the well-equipped kitchen evenings can be spent curled up in front of the wood-burning stove whilst planning activities for the rest of the stay.
The accommodation here is particularly generous for two people with a king-size double bed in the bedroom and a chic bathroom with a bath and huge rainfall shower over it.
A large, enclosed grassed garden surrounds the cottage and at the front is a patio seating area that is the perfect place to enjoy a morning cuppa whilst making the very most of the scenery laid out before you. Private parking is provided at the bottom of the garden with a path that leads up to the front door and at the back is another patio and steps up to a romantic ‘love seat’ that enjoys the very best of the loch views.
Complimentary access to Aldochlay marina is available to guests by arrangement and secure storage for kayaks and canoes is easily accessible in the garden.
Luss village has a good choice of shops with a general store that has plenty of supplies including gifts and traditional tartan, whiskies, etc. The Loch Lomond Arms Hotel, in easy walking distance, is an excellent choice for a bite to eat or a drink of an evening.
Boat trips can be taken from the pier to visit Inchcailloch island, the base of Ben Lomond or there is a circular route with onboard commentary on the area’s history. For a really special memory, seaplane trips head from Alexandria (6 miles) up and over Loch Lomond showcasing the amazing beauty of the wider area as well as giving a unique perspective on the sheer size and depth of the water.
Lovers of outdoor pursuits will find plenty to amuse them at Loch Lomond Adventures where a variety of watersports can be tried out including kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and the adrenaline-filled river sledging! Pony trekking, archery, clay pigeon shooting, air rifle target practice, segway riding and a tree top aerial adventure course are also available.
As Luss is at the heart of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and the adjoining Queen Elizabeth Forest Park there is lots to explore and walking, cycling, hiking, fishing and rock climbing can all be on the agenda.
Balloch (8 miles) has a supermarket and a good range of eateries and from the train station there it is only a 45 minute journey into the centre of Glasgow for a day of shopping or sightseeing.
