Brae Cottage is an ideal starting off point to go either North up to Aviemore and the Cairngorms, or South to Perth, St Andrews and even Edinburgh for a wonderful day out.
Brae Cottage has been completely restored and refurbished by its owners to a very high standard with wooden flooring and panelling throughout. The relaxed and inviting atmosphere of the property makes a perfect base for walking, exploring or simply relaxing and watching the world go by.
Inside, the house is full of character and has a bright and modern feel whilst retaining many original features. There is a spacious and well equipped kitchen/dining area which is both contemporary and full of charm. The large sitting room is warm and inviting with a wood-burning stove to give it a cosy feel and there is a bright airy double bedroom with original features and a large modern en suite bathroom.
Outside, the lovely mature garden has trees, shrubs and an array of flowers throughout, down to the roses around the front door. Steps down from the garden lead to a small road, which is a couple of minutes' walk from the village with its post office/shop.
There are tracks up near the cottage where you can take a gentle stroll up to a restaurant near Ballinluig (1 and a quarter miles) and there wonderful walks and cycling in the hills nearby.
If you feel like a day out without driving, the local bus will take you to the bustling tourist town of Pitlochry, (6 miles) with its famous Festival Theatre and distillery as well as lots of interesting shops and good eating places. Just slightly further north (13 miles) is the historic town of Blair Atholl, set in the Cairngorms National Park, where its most famous landmark Blair Castle can be visited.
Loch Tay, Perthshire's largest Loch (14 miles long) has excellent facilities for water sports or you can visit the Crannog Centre, the Iron Age stilt house in the Loch which paints a fascinating picture of early Iron Age life. At the end of the loch is the village of Killin and the spectacular Falls of Dochart the birthplace, some say, of Pontius Pilate. Near to the Loch is the lively small town of Aberfeldy with its restaurants, golf course and leisure centre.
Just outside Aberfeldy, close to Weem, there are two gardens open to the public, one nearby at Bolfracks, noted for its flowering bulbs and stream garden and another at Cluny House which is one of Scotland's best woodland parks.
