Down a short lane from the road there and in a pretty courtyard setting is North Mill, a very stylish conversion of old mill buildings.
Guests here will find a very comfortable holiday home indeed, with, downstairs, a queen-size double bedroom and shower room and upstairs, an airy and perfectly charming open plan living area with wood-burning stove.
It also has doors to a small balcony (with furniture) where they can sit and enjoy the many visiting birds and the view across the tiny stream which flows behind the cottage, to the woods and fields beyond. Behind the courtyard is a further enclosed rough grass garden area (with furniture), that is ideal for pets.
Nearby Dunkeld is a delightful centre, with a good range of independent shops and some excellent eating places.
It also boasts a cathedral and a Beatrix Potter centre, for the creator of Peter Rabbit used to come here for her holidays too! There is a railway halt at Birnam (3 miles).
There are great walks right from the front door and, avoiding any major roads, it is possible to stroll as far as Dunkeld. The nearby Hermitage offers wonderful woodland walks along the river Braan and also a spectacular waterfall where, in season, you can see the salmon leap as they make their way upriver to spawn. The really adventurous can on foot, with dog or by cycle, even head right over to Aberfeldy (14 miles).
Those with an interest in wildlife will find it here in plenty - red squirrels, deer and red kites can all be seen. You may also wish to visit the hide at the Loch of the Lowes, just to the north of the town, where for many years now osprey have returned to breed.
Fishing permits can be obtained locally and Dunkeld has a golf course. Pitlochry, some 10 miles or so up the road, is a bustling tourist town with a famous Festival Theatre and dam with fish ladder. From there, it is an easy drive up to Aviemore and the Cairngorms, or to the south, Perth, Fife, St Andrews and even Edinburgh itself make good days out. For a lovely riverside setting for a relaxing picnic, the scenic Sma' Glen cannot be beaten.

Water is from a private source which is UV filtered and regularly tested; however (as is typical in many parts of Scotland) it can become discoloured, particularly after heavy rainfall. Guests may therefore prefer to bring bottled water to drink. A maximum of 1 pet is welcome at an additional charge (1 medium dog, 1 small dog). No smoking.
