Overview

Once inside it is immediately evident that great care and attention has been put into the elegant furnishings and chic styling by the thoughtful owners whose finishing touches make it feel extra special. The heart of the house is the open plan sitting/dining room that is sure to be the place that draws guests in to relax and appreciate its welcoming atmosphere. What could be better than snuggling up in front of the roaring open fire of an evening with the beautiful views of trees and hills providing delightful distractions from whatever is on TV? At the entrance at the rear of the house a conservatory porch with seating further showcases the amazing scenery.

The well-appointed kitchen has everything needed to whip up some tasty delights and off it is a little utility room that keeps any laundry neatly out of the way and has useful storage space for boots and coats, etc.

All three bedrooms lie off the central hallway, along with a family bathroom, a cloakroom/WC and a snug area that is the ideal place to sit and devour a good book in peace and quiet. With two spacious double bedrooms, each with generous king-size beds and wonderful valley views, and a twin room to choose from the accommodation here offers everything desired plus so much more.

Once the gate is safely shut, the garden is completely enclosed which is perfect for children and pets. The cottage sits up around 300 metres of driveway with a gravelled parking area at the top with room for up to 3 cars. As the sloping garden is south-facing it gets the sun well into the evening and has a lovely dining and BBQ area that is positioned facing the outlook of the loch. A path meanders through the trees and wildflower meadow which makes for an idyllic walk.

Map & Local

A few minutes’ walk away in the kirkyard of Balquhidder Parish Church is the final resting place of the famous outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor who was nicknamed the ‘Scottish Robin Hood’.

As freshwater Loch Voil is also only a short walk away, which guests can access through the owner's field, it is a good place to head to for a paddle on fine days or to venture out onto the water in a canoe or kayak. Fishing for salmon and trout is also possible with permits available to buy from nearby Muirlaggan Farm.

Mhor 84 (2 miles) is a restaurant, café and bar which serves food all day long so it is an ideal stop off point for a drink or bite to eat at any time of the day. Its sister restaurant at the Monachyle Mhor Hotel (4 miles) further along the banks of Loch Voil offers more formal dining for those special meals.

Walkers and climbers will find plenty to keep them amused with nearby Ben More and Stob Binnein (4 miles) offering a challenging but rewarding climb with stunning views from the summit that make for good photo opportunities. Several downhill mountain biking trails run around the Kirkton Glen or, for a more serene ride the 4 Glens Loop allows for Glen Kendrum, Glen Dubh, Glen Dochart and Glen Ogle to all be taken in (20 kilometres in total).

Of course, no holiday in this area would be complete without a trip over to wonderful Loch Lomond itself (30 miles). On the eastern shore of the loch the towering Ben Lomond munro offers more opportunities for climbing and the chance to be one of the 30,000 people that make the trek up it every year.
