The picture book image is enhanced by its peaceful woodland setting. Accessed by a quiet back road, it nestles into the surrounding greenery, yet it has enough space around it for the garden to capture the sunshine. And there is plenty of that in this area, which is generally recognised to be the sunniest in Scotland.
This is a very genuine little house and, following some recent upgrading and redecoration, it is now more attractive than ever. The sitting room is most comfortably furnished and the restful décor and welcoming open fire create a charming ambience. The modern dining kitchen is of a good size with plenty of room for preparation, cooking and dining.
All on one level, there are three cosy bedrooms, a double, a twin and a single, that are all of a good size and are light, bright and pleasantly furnished.
Hedges surround the grassed garden giving a lovely feeling of privacy and the only passing traffic is the occasional Estate vehicle. There is plenty of parking right beside the cottage.
Here you are in a landscape of heather hills, woods and farmlands, which slope down to the fine sandy beaches of the Moray Firth.
Visitors can walk for miles in relaxed surroundings over the estate, golf on numerous courses and, with a car, visit a host of interesting places nearby such as the historic battlefield at Culloden, Cawdor Castle of 'Macbeth' fame, Inverness, the fortress at Fort George, all the small fishing villages along the coast or the Whisky Distilleries that proliferate along the River Spey.
Further afield, Loch Ness and Fort William, Ullapool, the famous gardens at Inverewe - even Skye can be visited. Inverness and Aberdeen airports are 40 and 90 minutes away respectively. Car hire is available at both of these, making this one of the most accessible of cottages which is yet in the heart of the countryside.
For those with an interest in wildlife, at Fort George you are just across the narrows from Chanonry Point, which is one of the prime spots in all of Europe for watching dolphins as they pass through into the inner Sound.
You are also well placed too for a day or two in Inverness, which offers a host of attractions - shopping, eating, cultural and sporting facilities in abundance, as well as being a most attracive city in its own right.
