Lynn of Shenval is a detached cottage set in a large, enclosed garden down a short track near Glenlivet (3.5 miles), just outside the Cairngorms National Park and right in the heart of the excellent ‘whisky country’ of Speyside.

This traditional cottage has been modernised throughout and extended to create a spacious and bright holiday home that is very well placed for exploring all around. The main downstairs living accommodation is light, airy and open plan with everything easily to hand and a wood-burning stove that keeps it lovely and toasty.
Enjoy meals together around the central dining table before retiring to the sitting room to enjoy a cosy evening in front of the stove whilst planning the next day’s agenda. Also on this level is a modern bathroom with a bath and shower over.
The attractive master double bedroom is downstairs with a king-size bed to stretch out on and upstairs is a handy WC and a twin bedroom with a bay window that provides pretty views out over the garden to the rolling countryside beyond.
Outside the garden extends to around half an acre with mature shrubs and trees and a large lawn with seating from which to admire it all from. Secure storage is also available for bikes and other sporting equipment if required.
In easy walking distance just half a mile away is The Croft Inn (open end of Mar to start of Nov) which is the ideal place to pop in for a drink or a meal in their restaurant.
If you are on the whisky trail there is a choice of interesting distilleries to visit nearby with tours and tastings to sample at the Glenlivet Distillery (3.5 miles) and Tomintoul Distillery (7 miles) and Glenfiddich Distillery (10.5 miles) in easy reach by car (with the help of a nominated driver).
Treks run out from the Glenlivet Estate with various different tours on offer. On the Whisky Smugglers Tour visitors ride out in 4x4 vehicles that retrace the illicit footsteps of the 1800s smugglers visiting several historical sites and tasting some excellent malts along the way.
Winter sports enthusiasts will want to head to The Lecht ski resort (15 miles) for skiing and snowboarding in season and mountain biking in the months when there is no snow around. There are red and blue trails to try at Bike Glenlivet (10 miles) where there are also some delightful woodland and riverside walks.
There are plenty of activities within the Cairngorms National Park with everything from walking and cycling to mountain climbing and lots more besides. It is under an hour’s drive over to the Morayshire coastline where the sandy beaches at Findhorn Bay or Lossiemouth make for great day trips in good weather.

Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED. The first £20 of electricity is INCLUDED with any additional usage payable at the end of your stay. Heating is by oil central heating (first £25 INCLUDED) and wood-burning stove. WiFi is INCLUDED (subject to a fair usage policy). Water is from a private source which is UV filtered and regularly tested; however (as is typical in many parts of Scotland) it can become discoloured, particularly after heavy rainfall. Guests may therefore prefer to bring bottled water to drink. Sorry pets are not accepted. No smoking.
