The Steading’s main living accommodation has all been set out open plan so it is ideal for socialising whilst cooking, eating and unwinding together. The neat kitchen area is at one end of the room with a dining table alongside and comfy seating in front of the electric, flame effect stove at the other end. A glass door from the kitchen leads straight out to the garden which comes in handy when dining outside.
Everything is on the one level so it is accessible for those with mobility issues. A corridor leads through to the spacious twin bedroom, attractive double room and delightful shower room that has a contemporary walk-in shower.
Larger parties of guests can book both South Steading and its sister property North Steading next door that can accommodate up to five additional guests that share the garden area by the back door.
Parking is provided right beside the garden and there is a picnic table for al fresco dining in good weather. There are sporting facilities, a swimming pool and a games room in easy walking distance within the estate.
The nearest place for shopping is Nethybridge (1 mile) where there is a shop, café and farm shop, as well as a couple of hotel restaurants that are ideal if a break from cooking is needed. Abernethy Golf Club in the village has a scenic 9 hole course and a practice area to hone one’s skills on.
Snowsport enthusiasts will love the choice of runs at The Cairngorm Mountain Ski Resort (18 miles) and The Lecht (20 miles) and walkers can join up with the Speyside Way walking route at Aviemore (12.5 miles).
Gin lovers will want to visit the Balmenach Distillery (7 miles) where they produce Caorunn Gin, or the Kinrara Distillery (14 miles). If beer is of more interest, then the Cairngorm Brewery (12 miles) has fascinating tours and testing sessions on offer.
There are plenty of family friendly activities and rides to try at the Landmark Forest Adventure Park (10.5 miles) near Carrbridge, from where the train runs into the city of Inverness in around 30 minutes.
At the Loch Garten Nature Reserve (5 miles) a live CCTV feed allows for a close-up look at the pair of breeding ospreys that return each year. The lovey sandy beach at Loch Morlich (15 miles) is a great place to spend a sunny day out and have a go at canoeing, kayaking or paddleboarding.
