Ross & Cromarty
Ross and Cromarty is another of these large, loosely defined counties of Scotland which stretches from the Black Isle in the East to Skye in the west (where it is divided into Easter and Wester Ross). The Black Isle is not an island at all, but a peninsula between the Moray and Cromarty Firths, famous for its birdlife and lovely, peaceful scenery. Red kites have recently been reintroduced in the area, while Munlochy Bay is famous for the wading birds which congregate there.

Lots to Explore
On its south coast, Rosemarkie and Fortrose are pretty villages beside the prime dolphin-watching site at Chanonry Point. The village of Cromarty, at the end of the peninsula, has a sandy beach and is one of the most enchanting and picturesque villages in the whole of Scotland. The Black Isle Brewery near Bogallan is also well worth a visit!
Easter Ross encompasses the peninsula on the other shore of the Cromarty Firth where you will find the town of Tain, home of the Glenmorangie whisky distillery.

|22-Feb-2019||Coire Bheag ES4 (overall)||The cottage was lovely and a quiet haven. One recommendation would be that it would be nice if the fire had been on before we arrived. We didn't arrive until late at night and so at that time of year the cottage was Baltic cold. Also less than half a bucket of coal was left for us which wasn't enough to keep the fire going until the following day, lucky for us we had brought some wood and we found out the next day the shop was closed Sunday and so nowhere to purchase more. I would rather pay more rent for the week and have enough wood and coal there.. A wall rack at the side of the wood burner would be ideal. Otherwise the cottage was bliss, fantastic location all weathers and we had all weathers except sunshine. We had highland cattle, sheep and deer on the door step, seals on the rocks and a sea eagle overhead. Sanna Spice make a fantastic curry too, portion sizes are huge. We would have no problem recommending the cottage and have done so already.|
