Overview

It stands in its own secluded, fenced garden and perhaps its most delightful feature is its conservatory dining room which overlooks the river behind and from where you can enjoy the delightful surroundings whatever the weather.

With Burnfoot you get all you would expect from such a charming wee cottage and even more besides, for it is full of character. With its multi-fuel stove (that supplements the oil-fired central heating), exposed rough stone fireplace and comfortable furnishings, the cosy sitting room will be a pleasure to return to after an active day.

The layout of the practical, modern kitchen ensures you will have everything to hand, while the dining conservatory makes a very memorable place to enjoy lazy meals.

There is one light, bright double bedroom downstairs and one upstairs with coombed ceilings. They have both been cleverly designed to make the utmost of the space available. Also upstairs is the family bathroom with bath and separate shower.

Map & Local

Despite being in such a peaceful and secluded situation, Burnfoot Cottage is remarkably well-placed to take advantage of all the surrounding area has to offer.

The nearest pub is just half a mile away at the Woll golf course, with another 2 miles away miles away at Ashkirk where there are also riding stables.

Shops, hotels and a swimming pool can be found at Selkirk (6 miles). Fishing is available by arrangement in the Ale water itself, or in the many stocked lochs or other rivers round about. If you have a boat or wind surfer, you can take it up to St Mary's Loch that sits lonely and serene among the hills.

There is wonderful walking country in all directions and many stretches of the River Tweed are ideal for canoeing. In addition, there are lots of castles, stately homes and ruined abbeys to visit. If you are looking for still more, Edinburgh is just over an hour's drive away or 50 minutes by train from Galashiels (13.5 miles), arriving right in the heart of the city at Waverley station.
