The Leet is a very stylish and contemporary first floor apartment set in the quiet little conservation village of Darnick, just a mile from Melrose and very centrally placed for discovering everything the Scottish Borders has to offer.

Inside, the main living accommodation has been laid out open plan with a modern look and feel throughout and the added advantage of a traditional wood-burning stove that supplements the central heating and keeps the whole place nice and cosy.
With a well-equipped kitchen area, dining alongside and comfy seating to curl up on it is sure to be the place where everyone gathers to relax and have informal meals together.
Once upstairs everything is all on one level and both of the attractive bedrooms, a double and a twin, have their own en suite bathrooms so there is no need for queuing when getting ready in the morning.
The apartment also has a small, enclosed garden to the side that is ideal for children and pets and has a pretty seating area for outdoor dining or sitting enjoying the sun.
There is no set private parking but parking is usually available down the road opposite and a handy bus stop just over the road allows for trips via public transport. It is also only a short walk down to the pretty River Tweed for picturesque walks along the river bank.
Melrose is in easy walking distance with plenty of interesting shops and, of course, the imposing Melrose Abbey that is known as one of the most famous ruins in Scotland and is open to the public to wander around and admire.
Foodies are spoilt for choice in Melrose with several excellent cafés and restaurants to choose from, as well as a butcher, greengrocer and delicatessen for stocking up at. Rugby enthusiasts may wish to time their visit to coincide with the famous Melrose Sevens tournament held every April that draws in teams and spectators from all over for some exhilarating seven-a-side action.
Cycle hire is available in the town for heading out exploring by bike and opposite the rugby ground the starting point for 4 colour coded, signposted cycling trails can be found. The yellow route leads under the imposing Leaderfoot viaduct to Scott’s View, an iconic Borders viewpoint said to be one of Sir Walter Scott’s favourites. It is also worth a quick stop off along the way to see Wallace’s Statue, a 31 foot high sandstone statue of William Wallace.
Walkers and hill climbers will find plenty to keep them busy with the three Eildon hills to climb less than half an hour’s walk away. Magnificent panoramic views can be enjoyed from their summits, which are a great vantage point for spotting other interesting places to visit in the area. Perhaps try Smailholm Tower, a 15th century peel tower housing an interesting history exhibition or climb to the top of the impressive Waterloo Monument on Peniel Heugh hill for even more stunning views.
It is just a 15 minute walk to the train station at Tweedbank so it is easy to jump on the train and head into Galashiels for shopping or a trip to the cinema or swimming pool, etc. For a day’s sightseeing in the picturesque capital, simply stay on the train and arrive into the centre of Edinburgh in under an hour.
