Overview

This traditional cottage has been beautifully refurbished and brought right up-to-date by its owners with a stylish design throughout that has been dressed in subtle, soothing tones.

Inside, everything has been set up perfectly just for two people with a wood-burning stove in the cosy sitting room to curl up in front of in the evenings and a neat dining area alongside.

The cottage is laid out on one level with a spacious double bedroom with a sweet little window seat and a light and bright shower room with a modern walk-in shower.

Off road parking for up to two cars is just alongside the cottage and there are beautiful open views out across rolling countryside to be enjoyed from the garden. Its delightful patio seating area is the ideal place for al fresco meals or simply relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet.

Map & Local

Coldstream has a good choice of pubs and eateries, as well as some interesting wee shops and a small supermarket for supplies or, to stock up further, head to either Kelso (11 miles) or Berwick-upon-Tweed (13 miles). The town sits right on the majestic River Tweed where fishing is available by arrangement.

History enthusiasts will enjoy a visit to the Coldstream Museum (open Mar to Sept) that explains the history of the town and the Coldstream Guards who are the oldest regiment in continuous service in the army. A visit to the site near Branxton (6.5 miles) where the famous Battle of Flodden was fought back in 1513 is sure to be of interest as well.

On the outskirts of Coldstream is The Hirsel Estate where there are craft workshops, a gallery and the chance to try out pottery, as well as a tearoom to stop off at. There is also an 18 hole golf course and lovely walks to be had around the Dundock Woods that are particularly pretty in May and June when the colourful rhododendrons and azaleas are in full bloom.

A day trip over to the picturesque Berwickshire coastline is an absolute must as there are several wonderful sandy beaches that just beg to be explored. For a bit of an adrenalin rush try a ‘Fast Blast’ boat trip from Eyemouth (17.5 miles) for some amazing views of the coastline and seals and dolphins to spot along the way.

At the St Abbs Head Nature Reserve (19 miles) the dramatic cliffs that were originally formed by active volcanoes millions of years ago are now home to thousands of seabirds. Kittiwakes, guillemots, razorbills and fulmars - there have even been sightings of puffins so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!
