St Boswells
St Boswells is another of the really pretty Border villages, some forty miles south of Edinburgh and lying between the A68 and the River Tweed, with a village green, pub/hotel, two or three small shops and an excellent bookshop/cafe.

Something for Everyone

It is one of these places that really tick the boxes ' a lovely situation, convenient for touring or relaxing, with excellent facilities both in the village itself and in the nearby town of Melrose (5 miles).
The Tweed, offering lovely riverside walks, is within a few minutes' walk. On its banks is a level, 9 hole golf course and directly opposite, accessible by a foot bridge, is lovely Dryburgh Abbey. St Cuthbert's Way (running from Melrose to Lindisfarne) passes through the village, as do regular buses to Edinburgh.

| 14-Apr-2026 | The Shore House GC3 (overall) |
|
The Shore house is a gorgeous house in idyllic rural location finished to a high standard and located in such a beautiful and peaceful setting. The style is modern traditional, really well equipped, spotless clean and decorated very nicely. The beds are comfy, the showers great and another bonus is the most amazing view especially from the master bedroom and the lounge - loved to watch the wildlife in the morning directly from the bed... We have only two little things that did not spoil our holiday, but you may consider when you stay in winter: you have only 150 kWh (£ 45) free of charge combined for heating (which is by air source heat pump) and electricity, which you will easily exceed and you are asked to replace the starter pack for the log burner (so not really included). But when we arrived in the evening there was only less than half a bag of firewood and only one (!) piece of kindling left – so no cosy fire on the first evening... Apart from that the Shore House is easily in our top ten list of the best located holiday cottages we ever stayed in - in almost 30 years of travelling all over Great Britain. We would happily return in the future and thank you very much for the welcome goodies!

Excellent and efficient in their response to booking a cottage and payment for the same. In depth details provided with regard to finding our way to the property, the owners name, details with regard to property keys and reminders of what is included in the booking or not as the case may be. We have been with Unique Cottages several times and have always found their service second to none .
