Overview

The cottage has been fully refurbished to create a warm and inviting rural hideaway. The spacious open plan sitting/dining room has a wood-burning stove that keeps it cosy and splashes of Scottish charm throughout, with a smart dining area alongside.

The immaculate, modern kitchen is very well-equipped and has a little breakfast bar that makes a great spot to sit and keep the cook of the party company. It also has a door out to the garden and a useful storage area for hanging coats. Just off the kitchen is a handy utility room where there are laundry facilities and also on this level is a chic bathroom with bath and shower over.

An open staircase leads from the main living area upstairs to two comfortable and elegant double bedrooms that both have slightly coombed ceilings and further views out towards the loch.

Parking is just to the side of the cottage and stone steps (care to be taken) lead up to a raised patio area that is ideally positioned to make the most of the wonderful views out over Kentallen Bay.

Map & Local

The landscape of the secluded Ardsheal Estate is a mix of pretty woodland, rolling hills and beautiful stretches of Loch Linnhe’s shore from which many beautiful sunsets can be enjoyed.

The estate has an array of wildlife to try and spot including otters, seals and dolphins and you venture out onto the water yourself by canoe or kayaks from the loch shore a short stroll away.

There is plenty of walking all around the estate or there are several munros and corbetts nearby that can be tackled, if you are looking for more of a challenge.

There is a restaurant/bar in walking distance at Kentallen (1.5 miles) and the nearest supermarket is in Ballachulish (7.5 miles). The pretty village of Glencoe (8 miles) has a museum detailing the area’s history and the Glencoe Mountain Resort (21 miles) offers skiing, snowboarding and mountain biking (bike hire available in Ballachulish). Just half an hour’s drive brings you to the bustling town of Fort William (18.5 miles) that has shops, pubs and eateries.

Heading south from the estate there is riding and pony trekking available from the Lettershuna Riding Centre (9 miles) and the famous Castle Stalker (10 miles) is a must see to add to your holiday agenda.

A 10 minute passenger ferry trip from Port Appin (13.5 miles) takes you to the Isle of Lismore. Cars can also be taken across by ferry from Oban (28 miles), which takes about an hour. The name Lismore means ‘big garden’ and the island is known for its fertile soil and assortment of wildflowers. There are lots of foot paths from which to admire the lush landscape and the island is steeped in history with several ancient ruins to visit.
