Huge picture windows in the charming sitting room keep it light and bright and frame the wonderful loch views and a flame effect stove keeps it all nice and cosy.
Meals can be enjoyed together at the dining area that has been set up by the window to take further advantage of the view whilst planning the next day’s itinerary.
The galley kitchen is equipped with everything needed and at the back of the lodge are a comfy double bedroom, a neat twin room and a bright and modern shower room that they share.
Outside, parking is just alongside and seating has been positioned on the raised deck that wraps around two sides of the house for taking in the scenery. The picnic table, moveable fire pit and built-in BBQ also make the grassed garden a great place for al fresco dining.
Please note that the hot tub is no longer available at Kingfisher Lodge.
There are eateries in easy reach nearby with the choice of the Portsonachan Hotel and Ardbrecknish House just 5 minutes’ drive away.
Loch Awe Boats (3 miles) offers boat and canoe/kayak hire for getting out exploring the loch and, as it is freshwater, the loch is also well known for its excellent fishing (permits available from Loch Awe Boats).
Inveraray (14 miles) is a very picturesque little town with some interesting shops to have a wander around and is a great place to pick up some excellent whisky. It is also well worth a visit to the iconic Inveraray Castle to see the grand furnishings, impressive Armoury Hall and beautiful gardens.
Further down Loch Fyne is Argyll Adventure (15.5 miles) where there is the chance to try horse riding, pony trekking, paintball and even crossbow shooting.
The Auchindrain Township Open Air Museum (19 miles) is a real trip back in time that offers a fascinating insight into what life would have been like for Highlanders back in the 18th century. What was once a bustling village housing the local farming community, has been perfectly preserved just as it was.
Garden enthusiasts will enjoy visiting Crarae Gardens (23 miles) where there are some lovely walks to be had around 50 acres of pretty woodland and cheeky red squirrels to look out for along the way.
Heading north from the lodge is the town of Oban (32 miles) ‘the gateway to the Hebridean islands’ from which ferry trips run out to the Isle of Staffa and the impressive Fingal’s Cave, to the Treshnish Isles for some puffin spotting or over to see the natural beauty of Mull and Iona.
