Guests may well be surprised once they see the extensive accommodation that is on offer as it is quite deceptive from the outside. At the centre of the house is a large sitting room with a huge feature window that showcases the delightful view out across the surrounding fields to Loch Fyne off in the distance.
It is kept lovely and cosy by its wood-burning stove and further seating has been positioned in front of the window to make the most of the view. There is a wealth of wildlife in the area and binoculars are certainly recommended. The light and bright dining kitchen is ideally set up for enjoying evenings together over a meal.
From the sitting room a door leads out to a balcony seating area that looks out over the garden to the loch beyond. From there steps lead down to the garden and a double bedroom with a lovely king-size bed and its own en suite shower room. This room is accessed from the outside and effectively creates a master suite that is ideal for anyone in the party looking for some additional space and privacy.
The other two beautifully presented bedrooms are back inside the main house where the double and twin rooms make use of a family bathroom with hand shower and a handy separate WC.
Plenty of parking (for two vehicles) is provided to the side of the house and to the rear the enclosed, sloping grassed garden has picnic table seating looking out towards the water. There are several pedestrian routes that lead to the beautiful sweeping beach of Kilfinan Bay.
The house has a peaceful rural setting yet the Kilfinan Hotel is only a 5 minute walk away so it is a great spot to head to for a drink or meal if a break from cooking beckons. Fishing can also be arranged locally through the hotel and there are plenty of forestry roads nearby for mountain bikers.
With the gorgeous sandy beach at Kilfinan Bay only a 10 minute walk away it is sure to be top of the list of places to visit, particularly in fine weather. The view over to the Isle of Arran is particularly scenic and lucky visitors may even find that they have the whole unspoilt beach to themselves.
Fans of seafood will love the Oystercatcher Restaurant at Otter Ferry (3.5 miles) where fresh local produce is put to very good use indeed and there is also an interesting selection of whiskies and gins to sample.
Groceries can be picked up from the well-stocked general store in Kames (8 miles) and for supermarket shopping Dunoon (25 miles) is under an hour’s drive away.
The marina at Portavadie (8.5 miles) has an excellent bar and restaurant and a leisure centre with gym facilities, indoor pools and an outdoor infinity pool. Ferries cross over from Portavadie to Tarbert, which takes about 30 minutes, for those wanting to explore a bit further afield.
