Those looking for the perfect romantic haven will find it at Port Carnish, a wonderful house set in an absolutely stunning location with views out over Uig beach that are enough to take your breath away, near Uig on the Isle of Lewis.

On entering this Hebridean home one can’t help but be impressed by the luxury and style to be found throughout. The main living area is open plan so it is light and airy with a wood-burning stove at its centre, as well as dining just for two.
In the sitting room area huge sliding doors show off the ever-changing views of the sandy bay outside with a comfy sofa and snuggle chair to admire it all from. Binoculars are provided for keeping an eye out for oyster catchers and corncrakes wandering on the shoreline. A lucky few may even manage to catch a glimpse of the remarkable Northern Lights in the right conditions.
Intimate meals can be created in the modern kitchen and the supplementary utility area has handy storage for coats and boots, etc. In the spacious double bedroom there is a king-size bed to stretch out on and large windows showcasing the gorgeous seascape outside that is quite something to wake up to.
A modern bathroom completes the accommodation and the decking at the front of the cottage is the perfect place to sit and take in the fabulous surroundings and amazing sunsets against the backdrop of the Atlantic ocean. Those of an artistic inclination will certainly find plenty of inspiration here as the beach just a short stroll away has white shell sands that look like they have come straight from the Caribbean.

Lewis is accessed from Ullapool over on the mainland with the ferry arriving into Stornoway (32 miles) just under an hour’s drive away from Port Carnish. Alternatively, Stornoway has a small airport to fly into and car hire is available.
The picturesque west coast of the island is characterised by its many sandy beaches that are a delight to explore in any weather. In fact, there are over 20 different beaches to visit nearby so guests are literally spoilt for choice. Walkers and hikers will find plenty to keep them occupied and there is always the highest peak on the island, Mealaisbhal, to tackle.
Uig (3 miles) has a little community shop that provides a grocery delivery service that can drop off everything before your arrival. For further shopping head to Stornoway (32 miles), the largest settlement on the island, where there is a cycle hire company for anyone wanting to get out and about on two wheels.
Every July the Hebridean Celtic Festival comes to Stornoway bringing a celebration of Celtic music that draws in visitors from all around and some pretty well-known artists as well. As part of the festivities an inter-island shinty match takes place, a traditional sport similar to hockey that generates fierce competition amongst the competitors.
It is well worth taking the 40 minute drive out to Callanish (23 miles) to visit the Callanish Standing Stones. This arrangement of impressive Neolithic megaliths really need to be seen to be believed with some of them standing at over 12 feet in height!
