Loch Sunart, near Strontian, Argyll
The Laudale Estate stretches along the south shore of Loch Sunart, about 30 miles southwest of Fort William amid some of the most glorious scenery on Scotland's incomparable west coast.

Reached by 2 miles of Estate roads from the nearest highway, near the imposing Big House and within a short stroll of the lochside, the Bothy, whitewashed, trim and semi-detached, is a new addition to the attractive holiday cottages which are scattered about the Estate and is presented to a similar high standard.
The interior features a very cosy sitting room with wood-burning stove, a well-equipped kitchen, double bedroom and shower room downstairs, and upstairs a twin bedroom (restricted headroom) and en suite WC. It is particularly suitable for a couple, or for a family with younger children.
From here, you can head down to Lochaline and take the ferry to Mull for the day (no booking necessary) or explore the lovely Ardnamurchan peninsula with its abundance of wildlife and wonderful views.
The Estate offers great walking in the surrounding hills, farm tours and 'deer stalking by camera' (great fun and no one gets hurt)! Strontian (4 miles) has shops and some good eating places.
The Estate, is in fact a great place to enjoy the best of both worlds – the feeling of being right away from it all, well off the beaten track, among some heavenly scenery, and yet not being so very far from civilisation. It is only after Strontian that the road west becomes single-track, which means the journey back to the Ardgour ferry takes only half an hour or so.
After the 10 minute crossing, it is then just 9 miles further to bustling Fort William, which offers a full range of facilities, including a leisure centre, swimming pool, 18 hole golf course and boat trips on Loch Linnhe to see the basking seals. Of course no trip would be complete without at least a viewing of Scotland’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, which dominates the town. You could 'pop' up to the summit while you’re there, or experience the international mountain biking trails or winter skiing at Aonach Mor next door.
Should your wanderlust take you further, you can continue north east up the Great Glen, along the route of the Caledonian Canal to Loch Ness, perhaps visiting Urquhart Castle or going pony trekking at Drumnadrochit, while all the time keeping a watchful eye out for the elusive Loch Ness monster. Whichever you choose, it is all achievable in a day from Laudale Bothy.

Water is from a private source which is UV filtered and regularly tested; however (as is typical in many parts of Scotland) it can become discoloured, particularly after heavy rainfall. Guests may therefore prefer to bring bottled water to drink. A maximum of 1 dog is welcome at an additional charge (1 large, 1 medium or 1 small).
