Overview

Looking west, there are breathtaking views to Kentra Bay and the isles of Eigg and Rum beyond and of course the sunsets in this part of the world can be unforgettable.

This is a very genuine little house, traditional, stone-built, comfy and cosy and lovingly restored by its owners to make a delightful holiday home.

This is a place to relax and forget the cares of the world. It has been carefully and thoughtfully modernised, totally in keeping with its style and character. The comfortable sitting room has as its focal point an attractive stone fireplace with wood-burning stove and there is another stove in the separate homely dining room. With central heating as well, cosiness is definitely assured. The modern galley kitchen is well laid out, with a separate utility room and the bathroom is modern and stylish. Upstairs are a double and a twin bedroom, which are both very spacious.

The cottage stands in its own large enclosed grass garden where children can play in safety, far from traffic (parents of young children should note there is one small pond), which is a haven for wildlife.

Map & Local

The sands at Kentra Bay are just over a mile away, or you can pay a visit to the lighthouse at the very end of the Ardnamurchan peninsula (more superb sands at Sanna Bay with heart-stopping views across to the Small Isles).

At nearby Kilchoan, you can take the ferry across to Tobermory. Or, by taking the road north towards Mallaig (36 miles, with all facilities), you will come to the legendary silver sands of Morar (with excellent 9 hole golf course at Traigh). From Mallaig itself, it is but a 20 minute ferry journey across to the Isle of Skye, making a visit to that lovely island a perfectly feasible day trip. For a true wilderness, you could take a trip across from Mallaig to lonely and unspoiled Knoydart.

Acharacle has a couple of hotels, a café, very well stocked general store, bakers and a post office, so with a bit of planning, there should be no essential need to go back to Fort William, which has the nearest major supermarket.

For a day out there is plenty to see and do at Fort William. Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain, dominates the town, there is a leisure centre and 18 hole golf course, riding at Torlundy and mountain biking on the world class trails on Aonach Mor. Going via Strontian and the ferry and returning via 'The Road to the Isles', stopping off at historic Glenfinnan, makes a grand round trip.
