This all contributes to the feeling of peace and tranquillity at Potters Cottage, a traditional, stone-built, detached Highland home, ideal for a small family and superbly positioned to benefit from the fabulous mountains on one side and the shores of Loch Linnhe on the other.

Why Potter's Cottage? Glencoe is the setting for location filming of the third Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The sets around the Clachaig Gully have gone now, but see if you can spot where Hagrid's hut and the Bridge to Nowhere were situated. In the past, the glen has also been used as a setting for such films as Highlander, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and of course, Rob Roy.

Potters Cottage is simply but comfortably furnished in traditional style, enhanced by full gas central heating and a modern kitchen and bathroom. Outside, there is parking for two cars alongside the cottage and a large grass garden at the rear (with furniture and barbecue).

Map & Local

There is a shop and pub within easy walking distance of the cottage along the quiet village road. Also more or less on the doorstep at Potters Cottage are Highland Mysteryworld, the Glencoe Folk Museum and the Confectionery Factory Visitor Centre.

If climbing is your scene then Glencoe is obviously paradise and you won't want to leave it for the duration of your stay. For those seeking a less challenging holiday, the main tourist centres of Fort William (16 miles, with all facilities) and Oban (38 miles) have many attractions for the visitor.

Fort William has an excellent golf course, a leisure centre with squash, tennis and swimming, as well as boat trips to see basking seals, etc. 28 miles away towards Oban is the SeaLife Centre at Barcaldine and a Rare Breeds Park at Connel. You could combine these with a visit to the Cruachan power station inside the mountain at Lochawe. There is riding at Port Appin (19 miles), where you will also find Aird's Hotel, with its renowned gourmet restaurant.

Fort William is at the start of the Road to the Isles. Within two hours' drive you can be at the legendary silver sands of Arisaig, or visit Ardnamurchan across the Corran Ferry. Alternatively, take a trip on the West Highland Line steam railway from Fort William to Mallaig.

Whatever your interests, you will find Potters Cottage a comfortable and relaxing base to return at the end of the day.
