Those who love the great outdoors and spectacular wilderness scenery will know that the Ardnamurchan peninsula, the westernmost point of mainland Britain, offers this in spades and the beaches at Sanna Bay, right out at the north west tip are of legendary beauty.

Now you can enjoy these from your own comfortable pied à terre there, Coire Bheag. Approximately 200 yards from the bay, where turquoise waters lap silver sands, Coire Bheag was once no more than four roofless stone walls of a typical old Highland blackhouse. Now, however, this traditional cottage has been expertly rebuilt to create a comfortable retreat without any sacrifice of its original character.
Perfect for two people seeking a romantic escape, the interior has been made into stylish studio accommodation. The living area is light and bright, with its original beams and roof windows that flood it with light. There is a very simple kitchen area (small electric combi oven/grill with the 2 ring electric hob and an additional 2 ring electric hob) at one end and cosy, comfortable L-shaped seating centred round the wood-burning stove. The double bed is at the far end of the room, right across from a large window from which you can admire the scenery without even having to get up!
There is also a separate bathroom with a freestanding bath that is perfect for relaxing after those long walks along the beach or in the surrounding hills. Heating is by wood-burning stove and there is mains electricity and an immersion heater.
Video Walkthrough
This must be the ultimate place to really relax away from it all and recharge your batteries.
Beachcombing, walking in the surrounding hills, fishing off the rocks and exploring the abandoned villages nearby are probably the most demanding activities you will get up to, but if you like to explore, the single track roads are perfect for cycling.
You can visit the Stevenson lighthouse at Ardnamurchan Point or track back along the road to the Sonachan Hotel or Kilchoan (with shop and hotel), where there is a vibrant social scene.
From Kilchoan you can take the ferry across to the Isle of Mull for the day or book a boat trip to the surrounding isles of Coll, Treshnish and Staffa. A little further back to the east is the RSPB reserve at Glenborrodale. From Salen (with hotel) you can go north to meet the Road to the Isles and view more silver strands at Arisaig and Morar.
