In a breathtakingly beautiful setting about half way between Applecross village and Shieldaig on the lovely Applecross Peninsula is a house which entirely lives up to its superb surroundings, Grace's Barn.

Reached by a short track, it stands on a vantage point above the shore with fabulous views across Loch Torridon, surrounded by an enclosed rough garden ground. Its charming, traditional exterior really belies the modern comfort on offer within.

The downstairs living area is open plan, with an excellent and well-equipped kitchen, leading through a dining area to a spacious and comfortable sitting area with a large log-burner for added cosiness. The huge picture windows and French doors make the most of the view. There is also a downstairs shower room and utility room. A rather steep staircase leads to two bedrooms, again with these wonderful views and a large family bathroom.

The house is a much loved home, furnished for the owner’s own use, which lucky holiday makers now have a chance to share. It is rare indeed to find a house of this quality in such a fabulous situation and in this unique and very popular area of the Western Highlands. Guests here will not be disappointed!

Map & Local

Applecross is one of those magical places with an almost legendary reputation for its peace and beauty. It can be reached over the dramatic Pass of the Cattle, but the cottage is better accessed by the altogether less white-knuckle, but nonetheless scenic, coastal road from Shieldaig (shop, hotel and boat trips).

Applecross Village ('the street' in local parlance) has two superb eating-places (the Inn and the Walled Garden), a well-stocked shop and petrol station. There are lovely beaches both to the north and south of the village.

For those who would prefer to thoroughly explore the area it is always worthwhile to return to Torridon village and follow the wonderfully scenic road to its end at Diabaig, where they can continue on foot round the coast even as far as Redpoint.

The Beinne Eighe Nature Reserve near Kinlochewe (with shop and hotel) provides great opportunities for spotting the local wildlife, before continuing on to Gairloch (with golf, riding and all facilities) and perhaps visiting the yachting haven at Badachro (there is another excellent Inn on the waterfront).

This is a place to walk, climb, cycle (storage available for bikes), paint, bathe, beachcomb or simply relax amid some of Scotland's most heavenly scenery. Come and enjoy.

Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED. Electricity is INCLUDED. Heating is by oil central heating (first £50 INCLUDED with any additional usage payable at the end of your stay) and wood-burning stove. WiFi is INCLUDED (subject to a fair usage policy). Water is from a private source which is UV filtered and regularly tested; however (as is typical in many parts of Scotland) it can become discoloured, particularly after heavy rainfall. Guests may therefore prefer to bring bottled water to drink. Sorry, pets are not accepted. No smoking.
