Inside this modern house is warm and welcoming with the downstairs rooms lying off a central hallway. The open plan kitchen diner is well-equipped and has plenty of room for both cooking and dining. The dining area is particularly inviting as a place to linger over leisurely evening meals. There are also doors out to the decked area so you can open them up and really ‘bring the outdoors in’. The kitchen is also supplemented by a handy utility room that houses the laundry facilities.

Also on this level are two twin bedrooms that are both pleasantly presented with views out over the garden. A neat family bathroom with bath and shower over completes the downstairs accommodation.

Upstairs is the sitting room that is very spacious and bright with floor-to-ceiling windows that really make the most of the views out across Loch Carron to Applecross. There is also plenty of comfortable seating from which to admire the scenery. The large master bedroom has slightly coombed ceilings and a smart en suite bathroom with a bath and a large, separate walk-in shower.

Outside there is parking for several cars on the gated driveway and a gravelled and grassed garden, as well as the decked area (with furniture) that is ideal for relaxing with your morning cup of tea.

A short walk takes you right down to the shore with its shingle beach from which you can fish or snorkel in good weather (bring your own equipment). To fully appreciate all the local wildlife, including otters and numerous species of birds, take your binoculars on a stroll along the unspoilt coastline.

Map & Local

In the charming little village of Duirinish (1 mile) the local sheep and Highland cows roam freely and graze down by the Allt Dhuirinish river that flows through the middle of the village. Historians will be interested to know that the bridge that crosses the river was built by the famous Thomas Telford in 1826 and is still in use to this day! Duirinish also has a little ‘request stop’ railway station that follows a very scenic route from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh.

Nearby Plockton (3 miles), locally considered to be the ‘jewel in the Highlands’ crown’, is a pretty seaside village that is nestled around the working harbour. The village has plenty of interesting little shops, a small convenience store, a pub and a couple of restaurants. You can also buy freshly caught seafood down at the harbour, which is surprisingly lined with palm trees owing to the mild local climate caused by the North Atlantic current. From here you can hire boats or take an organised trip out to see seals, otters and even dolphins.

Kyle of Lochalsh (4.5 miles) has a supermarket, plenty of little shops, restaurants, a bank and a PO. You can take a trip out on the Seaprobe Atlantis, a glass-bottomed boat that allows you can get up close and personal with underwater wildlife including crabs, sea urchins, starfish and jellyfish. You also get to see the remains of a shipwreck that dates back to World War II.

The Skye bridge (6 miles) offers easy access to the beautiful Isle of Skye and its satellite island Raasay, although you can still cross by ferry if you prefer. The Cuillin mountains provide plenty of opportunities for walking and climbing – you can even try the challenging Cuillin Ridge Traverse that is certainly not for the faint hearted! You can ‘island hop’ out even further by ferry to the beautiful islands of Lewis and Harris or North and South Uist with their magnificent sandy beaches that just beg to be explored.
