Just north of Kyle of Lochalsh, this traditional white detached cottage is surrounded by its own grass and woodland garden (with furniture), with the hills at the back and just the little single track road that runs between the garden and the shore. The views from the front are truly breathtaking and dolphins, seals, otters and seabirds can often be observed from the house.
That is only the start, for it is internally that the Old Croft House really comes into its own, having been lovingly renovated and refurbished by its owners to the highest standards to make it a remarkable holiday retreat, full of stylish statements.
The sitting room is a cosy and inviting room in which to relax with its extensive corner seating that is centred round the open fire in its lovely Art Nouveau style fireplace.
The kitchen is spacious and beautifully fitted with a traditional Belfast sink and plenty of room for cooking. There is also an elegant dining room and a utility room with laundry facilities. Having a downstairs WC as well adds to the practicality of the house.
Upstairs there are two spacious double bedrooms. The master double is a lovely room that is immaculately presented and also has a luxurious en suite dressing room/shower room that has a huge walk-in shower. The second double is also attractively presented and has its own facilities too in the adjoining family bathroom, which is fully tiled with a shower over the bath.
The Old Croft is a very ‘grown-up’ house which will delight fastidious guests who are looking for somewhere which is sublimely comfortable, superbly presented and rather romantic as well!
The accommodation is so seductive that you may be loathe to leave it at all, but if you can bear to tear yourself away, there is lots to do and much of interest in the surrounding area.
The beautiful Isle of Skye is less than half an hour's drive away over the Skye bridge. Nearer still is the picturesque village of Plockton, with its exotic palm trees along the sea front, quaint shops, art galleries and some excellent eating places.
In the other direction, the beautiful Applecross peninsula is not to be missed. The drive over the Bealach na Ba (The Pass of the Cattle) is a real adventure, with the prospect of an excellent lunch at the far end at either the famous Applecross Inn or the Walled Garden.
For activities, you have a range of walking, from gentle lochside strolls to climbing in the legendary Cuillins. Sea and loch fishing, sailing, sea kayaking and diving are all available locally and there is riding at Shiel Bridge. Wildlife trips to see whales and eagles are on offer nearby and Lochcarron has its own seashore golf course, while lovers of beautiful gardens are spoiled for choice in the area.
Inverness, the vibrant Highland capital can be reached in just over an hour, or if you'd rather leave the car behind for a day, you can take the train from nearby Strathcarron. The ride has been rated the fourth most scenic in the world by travel magazines!
Lochcarron (3 miles) has an award winning shop for everyday needs, as well as hotels, a cafe, a shop and a superb bistro, while supermarket shopping can be had at Kyle (28 miles).

Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED. Electricity is INCLUDED. Heating is by oil central heating (first £15 INCLUDED with any additional payable at the end of your stay) and open fire (only suitable for peat). Satellite broadband is available at a charge of £10 per week. It is provided for email checking and general web browsing and should not be used for large downloads or high bandwidth applications (such as Skype, YouTube, Netflix, iPlayer/video streaming, etc). Water is from a private source which is UV filtered and regularly tested; however (as is typical in many parts of Scotland) it can become discoloured, particularly after heavy rainfall. Guests may therefore prefer to bring bottled water to drink. A maximum of 1 dog is welcome at an additional charge (1 large, 1 medium or 1 small). If you wish to bring any other pets please contact us and we will see what we can do. No smoking.
