Overview

As the house is newly built it is fresh and modern throughout with gorgeous views of the loch that are showcased at every turn. The beautifully presented open plan sitting/dining room/kitchen is sure to be the place where the majority of time is spent whether it be cosying up in front of the colourful wood-burning stove, whipping up some culinary creations in the kitchen or enjoying meals at the chic dining area.

Another restful spot to relax in is the snug/sunroom that is decorated in soothing hues with an amazing outlook from its large picture windows. Washing facilities are housed in the little utility room where there is handy storage space for coats and boots, etc.

The en suite master bedroom upstairs has been created to make the absolute most of the striking vista of the loch and rocky shoreline beyond with a gable end that is made completely of glass.

There is another spacious double bedroom with an unusual circular window and a family room that has a double bed and two twin beds, making it ideal for parents and their kids. Yet more wonderful views greet guests from this room and there is also a shower room with a walk-in shower on this level. The house has good green credentials as it is warmed throughout by ground source heating and Eilean Donan Castle can be seen out in the water from the shoreline, sunroom and rear bedrooms upstairs.

The rough garden grounds lead right down to the shoreline for fishing. Some areas by the water can become slippery and there is a steep drop to the shore from the garden so care should be taken (particularly with children).

Map & Local

Dornie (3 miles) has a little shop and a hotel pub/restaurant to stop off at for a meal or a drink whilst out and about exploring.

The nearby Eilean Donan castle is one of Scotland’s most iconic and most widely recognisable landmarks. After a look round the visitor centre on the mainland (where there is also a café and gift shop) head over to the castle itself for a tour. It sits out on a small tidal island at the point where Loch Duich, Loch Alsh and Loch Long all meet and is reached by a stone bridge.

Shopping can be bought at Kyle of Lochalsh (7 miles) where there are a couple of small supermarkets. The village is the gateway over to the scenic Isle of Skye so it is easy to pop across for day trips to take in some of the island’s many sights and attractions.

It is well worth taking a trip out on the glass-bottomed boat Seaprobe Atlantis for a fascinating, up close look at the sealife, as well as the many seals and otters that the loch is home to and even a shipwreck dating all the way back to World War II.

This part of the west coast is dotted with really picturesque villages such as Plockton (9 miles) where the warming Gulf stream allows palm trees to flourish, something that may not be expected in Scotland! Sea kayaking tours run out from the village and it is a great way of taking in the scenery from a unique perspective. The effects of the Gulf Stream are further demonstrated at Attadale Gardens (12.5 miles) where the microclimate it creates nurtures a wide range of beautiful plants and flowers.
