Overview

The open plan living area at the heart of the cottage is very light and bright with its huge picture windows that do a great job of framing the magnificent sea views. The comfortable seating by the stylish freestanding wood-burning stove has been placed to make the best of the views, which you can even admire as you eat.

The accommodation is laid out all on one level with a spacious double bedroom, attractive twin room and thoroughly modern bathroom that has the luxury of cosy underfloor heating.

The cottage sits in pretty garden grounds with the seating area being a particularly lovely place to sit and admire the ever changing seascape as the light reflects off the water and boats bob off in the distance.

You can fish directly from the pebbly shore and wildlife enthusiasts will love visits from the resident otter that often comes to the shore and the colony of seals that bask on rocks around the bay. Dolphins have also been seen jumping out at sea and golden eagles have been spotted soaring in the skies nearby.

Map & Local

If a break from cooking beckons then the restaurant at the Duisdale House Hotel just a couple of minutes’ walk away is just the place, offering a delicious fine dining experience using plenty of local produce.

The Michelin-starred Kinloch Lodge Hotel (2.5 miles) is worth a visit for a bit of a treat and the Hotel Eilean Iarmain (1 mile) offers excellent pub food with lots of fresh seafood. The ferry over from Mallaig on the mainland arrives into Armadale (8 miles) where there is a general store/post office.

There are 40 acres of beautiful gardens to wander around at Armadale Castle where the mild climate has encouraged some beautiful flora and fauna to thrive. The onsite Museum of the Isles is worth a look if the weather isn’t good, offering a fascinating insight into the history of the Highland and Islands and resources that allow people to trace their genealogy.

Whisky lovers will want to head to the Torabhaig Distillery (3.5 miles) for a tour (opening August 2017).

A trip to the sandy beach at Camas Daraich near the Point of Sleat is a must. It is roughly a 2 mile walk to the picturesque cove but once you arrive you may well think you are somewhere much further afield when you see the gorgeous white sand and sparkling turquoise waters. Further on at the Point of Sleat, the most southerly point of the island, is an automatic lighthouse that sits on a rocky outcrop from which there are wonderful panoramic views to enjoy.

Broadford (8 miles) has a supermarket for stocking up on supplies and a bike hire shop if you fancy exploring the quiet roads on two wheels.
