Overview

Inside everything is easily to hand in the main living area as it is open plan and warmed by a wood-burning stove at its heart. The neat kitchen area with its Belfast sink is open to the rest of the room so the designated cook can still join in with conversation while meals are enjoyed at the bench seating around the dining table where plans can be made for the next few days’ activities.

The double bedroom is attractive and bright and there is a TV in the tidy twin bedroom so all viewing tastes can be catered for. At the back of the house is the modern bathroom that has a shower over the bath.

Parking for up to two cars is right by the house and the enclosed sloping grassed garden has seating from which to admire the lovely views out towards the beautiful Knoydart mountains off in the distance.

Map & Local

There is a hotel restaurant just a minutes’ walk away with lots of fresh seafood and some real ales and whiskies to sample. With several other excellent restaurants in easy reach there is plenty to choose from if a break from cooking beckons.

The ferry terminal at Armadale is just half a mile away and with it being so close and having regular crossings throughout the day it is easy to pop back across to the mainland to explore some of Lochaber and Fort William.

Those looking to find out more about their heritage will want to pay a visit to the Museum of the Isles at the site of the ruined Armadale Castle that has library resources for researching genealogy, as well as interesting exhibits on the Clan Donald.

From the parking area at the end of the road to the west (3.5 miles) is a scenic walking route that leads out to Camas Daraich beach. It is roughly a 3 mile walk to get to the beach and once you arrive you are rewarded by the sight of its gorgeous white sands and crystal clear waters. It is a great place to spend an afternoon relaxing in the sun with a picnic whilst keeping an eye out for the seals that bask off the coastline.

If you can bear to tear yourself away from the beach then carry on along the picturesque route to the lighthouse at Point of Sleat, the most southerly point of the island, where there are wonderful views out towards the islands of Rum, Eigg and Canna.

Head over to Skye’s second largest settlement Broadford (16.5 miles) for supermarket shopping or take a high speed wildlife boat trip from Kyleakin (21 miles) for an exhilarating way to spot seals, puffins, dolphins and even the occasional whale.
