St Monans, Fife

Right on the shore in the picturesque little Fife fishing village of St Monans, and right next door to Sea Breeze, which has for a number of years been one of our most popular cottages, booked wall to wall all year round, is  East Shore, which is more or less  its mirror image and occupies the same sought-after situation.

East Shore is snug and cosy, with new double glazing and gas central heating.   Typically for these old fishermen's cottages, it is on three levels (they were fit in those days!), connected by steepish stairs.  On the ground floor is the spacious, modern and well-equipped kitchen-diner.  The first floor has a snug sitting room with flame effect gas fire and an elegant bathroom.  On the top floor is the double bedroom.   And from all the front windows of course there are these  wonderful and uninterrupted sea views - you may even be lucky enough to see seals and dolphins swimming past the door!

Clustered round its little harbour, St Monans is one of the quietest and prettiest of the villages of the East Neuk.  It has a famous seafood restaurant, shops and pubs within a few minutes walk of the cottage.  There are lovely coastal walks, more good golf courses in the surrounding area than perhaps anywhere else in Scotland (including, of course, St Andrews itself which is only 13 miles away.)  In addition to its legendary golf courses, though, St Andrews is also steeped in history and has a vast expanse of glorious sandy beach, where both dogs and children will think they have landed in heaven!  There is cycle hire in Elie, where you can also take boat trips to view the seabird colonies on the Isle of May in the Firth.

There is lots to see and do round about, and, further afield,  Edinburgh, Perth, the Highlands, Loch Lomond etc. can all be accessed with ease for a day trip.

£!5 of gas central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are INCLUDED.  Up to two well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement.
