The Thatched Cottage, as its name suggests, is a pretty, idyllic, 'chocolate box' property which is as charming and appealing on the inside as it is appears from the outside. The property's original oak beams and refined decor perfectly compliment the character and ambience of this extraordinary building. The cottage is located in the 17th century conservation hamlet of Collessie, a half hour drive from St Andrews and 10 minutes from the market town of Cupar with supermarkets, numerous pubs, a good selection of coffee shops and eateries as well as a variety of more individual family owned and run businesses.
Beautifully renovated throughout, the large well fitted kitchen provides plenty space for dining in the glow of the wood burner and the chic sitting room is perfect for relaxing after exploring the numerous delights of the surrounding area. The two beautifully furnished bedrooms also contribute to the romantic feel of the place. With its elegant bathroom, large spa bath and separate power shower, as well as lots of little added extras throughout, off street parking and Sky television, there is no doubt that guests will feel thoroughly indulged. To the side of the property a secluded, sunken garden area with stone built bothy/garden room allows for alfresco eating and barbecues.
Standing near the centre of the hamlet is Collessie Church, on a site which is believed to have been a place of worship as far back as the Bronze Age, and approximately half a mile to the east of the hamlet is 'The Collessie Man' a prehistoric stone with carvings dating from Pictish times. Loch Birnie & Loch Gaddon nature reserve are a few minutes' walk away. Three miles from the cottage is the Scottish Deer Centre which is home for over 140 deer of varying species including reindeer, there are also regular bird of prey demonstrations, a pack of European wolves and 'Stobo' the black Highland cow (the original colour of Highland cattle).
Also close by, Tentsmuir beach and forest provides opportunity for scenic walks and bicycle rides, Lindores Loch offers a venue for fishing and the magnificent Falkland Palace will delight with its Renaissance architecture and beautiful gardens. The Thatched Cottage's location means many of Scotland's cities are easily accessible (Edinburgh 1 hour, Glasgow 1½ hours, Perth and Dundee ½ hour) and there are good road links to the Highlands and the west coast.
