The pretty little town of Callander, with its wonderful central location in spectacular Trossachs scenery, has long been a popular destination for visitors to Scotland, set within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, with nearby Loch Earn, Loch Katrine, Loch Lomond and the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, yet only 11 miles from the motorway and just over an hour's drive from Edinburgh (50m) and Perth (45m).

In a quiet situation, yet within easy walking distance of the town centre, is Heatherlyn Cottage, a charming, traditional stone-built, mid-terraced and extremely well-appointed cottage with its own small attractive garden (gas BBQ & furniture) and outstanding views of Callander Crags and Ben Ledi.  There is free off street parking about 50 yards from the cottage.

Both the sitting room and the kitchen/dining room have large picture windows to the front, and there is also a pleasant sun room.  The double bedroom upstairs has an en suite shower room, and there is a further double bedroom, with additional single bed and bathroom.

This is a lovely place for walking, exploring or simply relaxing in such comfortable surroundings.  Ben Ledi, Ben Vorlich, Ben Venue and Ben Vane are all within easy reach for hill walkers, or there are plenty of less challenging hikes and cycle routes around the town itself.  There is sailing and wind surfing on Loch Earn (14m) and riding is available locally.

Children will enjoy a visit to the Safari Park at Blair Drummond (11m), while their parents might want to visit the Scottish Antiques Centre more or less next door.

A short drive north takes you to famous Rob Roy Country near Balquidder from where it is an easy and scenic drive across to the west coast at Oban (70m).  Branching right at Tyndrum, you can head off across lonely Rannoch Moor to Glencoe (60m) and Fort William.  Really, this is a superb central location for enjoying the best that Scotland has to offer.

The cottage is double glazed.   Gas central heating,  electricity, bed linen and towels are all INCLUDED.  One well behaved pet is welcome by arrangement.  Sorry, no smoking within the cottage.

We have had a wonderful week here. We loved the cottage and were very impressed with all the available facilities. It has been a good week weather wise and we can recommend a trip to Loch katrine & wonderful walks & views. A trip on the paddle steamer was a bonus. We don't feel the photographs of the cottage did it justice and we are feeling like we could move in premanantly. Wonderful location & hope we can return one day.

Heatherlyn Cottage - Guest Comments

Mr & Mrs Hazenwinkel, Nehterlands 28/04/2007

We had a great stay in Heatherlyn Cottage - for a first time in Scotland this was a truly great place to have chosen as base camp. This house is so complete - it is incredible. Thinking of what you might want more, I can only think of a set of golf clubs (only joking!)

The Morbitzer party, Germany 14/07/2007

We needed less than a day to call this nice place home. We have been around a lot visiting Edinburgh, St Andrews, Loch Lomond, Loch Ness, Eileen Donan Castle, the wonderful countryside around here and the Highlands and we always felt pleased to come home to Heatherlyn Cottage after our trips. We all wish to stay longer and have closer look to details. This means we have to come back and we are sure we will. Its hard to say good bye now but we carry a lot of good memories with us back to Germany. Many thanks for a perfect and beautiful cottage!

The Sistal family, Warwickshire 07/04/2007

We have had a fabulous week in sunny Scotland. Have done a bit of everything - lots of wonderful walks, boat trip on Loch Lomond, Stirling Castle, hired bikes. Favourite bits include the Falls of Dochart in Killin, the walk up the hilll over the village and the climb up Ben A'an through the forest. We enjoyed some great food during our stay - great steak at the Forth Inn, Aberfoyle & had a return visit to Ciro's Italian restaurant in Callander as we enjoyed it so much. Cottage was perfect for us. A truly lovely first experience of Scotland for our kids - we will return soon.

Terry & Woody O'Fee, Surrey 04/08/2007

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely & well equipped cottage. It is ideally located for a variety of walks and touring in the car. We managed to struggle up Ben A,an and Ben Ledi - views are amazing and well worth the effort. Woody enjoyed being spoilt by friendly neighbours and the local information pack is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed oursleves and would love to return.
