On the hillside above Loch Tay in Highland Perthshire, just 5 miles from Killin, and with heavenly views across the Loch to the mountains of Breadalbane beyond, is Kiltyrie Cottage, a most elegant conversion of an old farm building which now provides stylish and extremely comfortable holiday accommodation.

The owners, who live next door, have tried to think of everything that would make a stay at Kiltyrie Cottage as memorable as possible and, internally, it more than matches the excellence of its situation.  The large sitting room has two sets of French doors to the front overlooking the loch, and there is a spacious reception area open plan to the well fitted kitchen dining room.  Upstairs, there are two large bedrooms and a bathroom.  There is also a wide and charming landing with a Juliet balcony, again overlooking the loch - a lovely place to sit with a book or to watch the changing light on the water.

Loch Tay is not just a scenic, but also a very central location for touring in all directions and for activities.  The Loch has watersports galore and for those of a more historical bent, an Iron Age crannog in the loch at the pretty village of Kenmore at the eastern end.  There are golf courses at Kenmore and Killin,  horse riding just down the road, and you are spoiled for choice when it comes to hill walking.  At Kiltyrie you are, in fact, on the lower slopes of Ben Lawers itself, with many other challenging heights in close proximity.

Killin is in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and is about 1.5 hours drive from Oban on the west coast.    To the north east, there is the Tay Forest Park, Aberfeldy (all facilities) and Pitlochry with its Festival Theatre, or for more lochs and mountains try Glen Lyon, Loch Tummel and Loch Rannoch.  There is surely too much to do here in a single week!

Killin has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants.

Bed linen and towels, heating and electricity are all INCLUDED in the rental.  One well-behaved pet is welcome by arrangement. Wi-fi internet access is available, subject to provider.

This was a very special week! We started with an unforgettable welcome, wine and bread inclusive. Allan was so friendly to take us over to Lawers Hotel for a good dinner (Haggis for the first time). We enjoyed this evening, especially after the rough trip to Newcastle. Kiltyrie Cottage was more than we expected! We loved the views and the surroundings! And who said,"it always rains in Scotland". We got a sunburn walking up Ben Lawers on the first day. The sun kept on shining the whole week and we were able to make wonderful trips to Glencoe, Culloden, Inverness and Fort William. We'll never forget climbing Ben Lawers, Devil's Staircase and the lower part of the West Highland Way at Loch Lomond. Thank you for your hospitality! You made us feel like staying with friends.

Thank you for such a lovely welcoming and relaxing week..... and we've been blessed with the weather, what good fortune. Beautiful scenery, great pottering even with a twenty month old who loved all the animals. Horse riding at Taymouth was also great - spectacular views. Back to reality now but thanks for some great memories. The cottage had everthing and more we could have hoped for!"

We have had a great week. Anne & Allan have been wonderful hosts and the cottage has been "home from home". Its the first time we have been to this part of Scotland and it has been a pleasure to discover new walks, new mountains and delightful places. The weather has been not great but there is still so much to see...... highlights - Ben Lawers and the Crannog Centre and then coming home to the warm cottage. Thanks Anne for all the little touches.

Thank you Anne & Allan for a wonderful week. The weather was magnificent as was the scenery. The cottage is lovely (I don't want to go home really). The safari wildlife trip was great fun and the views from the top of the mountains, wonderful. Thank you too for the welcome basket and the little extra's during the week, very much appreciated. Will certainly recomment you to our friends.

A wonderful two weeks walking in alpine conditions then coming back to our warm cottage. We "bagged" 12 Munro's, enjoying beautiful scenery. The living room stove is great - Keith kept it alight throughout our time here! Thank you Anne and Allan Nelson & Eddie for such a warm welcome and making us very comfortable. Great T.V. to watch the Rugby on too!!

Thank you for a warm and early welcome to your cottage which has been extremely comfortable with glorious views!! Although the weather has not been very kind to us, it has not stopped us getting out and about in this lovely area. Thanks to Anne & Allan for letting us stay in one of the nicest cottages that we have been to in a long time.

We have really enjoyed our stay. Your cottage is the best we have stayed in - for the location and view, comfort and facilities and for your warm hospitality. The view is new every day, sometimes subtle, sometimes spectacularly changed by sunlight, clouds, mists and showers as the weather passes by. We enjoyed good walking towards Ben Lawers and the drive over Glen Lyon, though if you go west beyond Bridge of Balgie down Glen Lochay the road is poor though passable.

Many thanks for your wonderful hospitality and in letting us share your beautiful part of the world with you. The cottage is certainly one of, if not the best we have ever stayed in. Highlights of our week have included, Rachel 'bagging' her first Munro up Ben Chonzie. A great introduction to hill walking the 'easy way'! The ospreys on the Loch of Lowes is a must for nature lovers and despite the slog, Ben Lawers harbours the most amazing vistas from the summit. The Aberfeldy Weem Hotel has great food and wonderful service and is worth the half hour drive. Definitely be back!

Thank you for the extra treats and excellent cottage and local advice. Lovely sunny weather made the views spectacular, don't be fooled though, it is still cold on the top of Ben Lawers etc! The cycle track, starting opposite the Falls of Dochart at Killin is first class, the forest section to the top of Glenogle is quite steep on route to Lochearnhead, but the venison burger from the local 'onsite cafe trailer' made it all worth while. If you do not want to go any further, you can 'free wheel' all the way back the 3 miles to Killin! If you follow the old track at Killin towards Loch Tay, you can have a lovely picnic on the sandy shore.
