Woodlands Cottage is a delightful 'Hansel and Gretel' cottage tucked away in the middle of bluebell woods just one mile from the village of Invermoriston (shop/hotel) and 10 miles south of Drumnadrochit (shop/pub/Monster Museum) on the west side of Loch Ness in Inverness-shire.

Over 100-years old, standing alone within its 2 private acres of natural woodlands which stretch down to the banks of the River Moriston (fishing licences available), it is a cosy, former croft-cottage - mostly pine-lined, with a log fire and wood-burning stove - ideal for visitors who like to be on their own in beautiful surroundings (barbecue/garden furniture) yet within easy distance of a pub, hotel and shop.

Children love the freedom of the woods and the normally shallow river which gurgles peacefully between rocks and tiny islets down to Loch Ness, but parents are warned that the riverbank is unfenced and that the river can rise in wet weather.

About 30 minutes drive from Inverness and 45 minutes from Ben Nevis and Fort William, this is another good centre from which to visit the West Coast, Moray Firth and Skye.

Heating is by open-fire, wood-burning stove, electric-radiators and night-store heaters (£15 electricity INCLUDED weekly). Bed-linen is INCLUDED and towels can be hired. Pets are welcome BUT restricted to downstairs only.  No smoking is allowed within the cottage.

Quite a miracle to find such a beautiful cottage on the internet. We enjoyed it tremendously! We loved Skye, Lochalsh, Glen Affric. the Black Isle and so much more (and some haggis and whisky too!!) We hope to be back one day.

Thoroughly enjoyed staying in the cosy cottage. Road outside wonderful for running and strolling. Ferns, flowers and trees are simply gorgeous. We enjoyed walking into Glenmoriston, crossing the old bridge and throwing coins into Saint Columbas Well.

A nice relaxing holiday in a lovely peaceful cottage. Red squirrels seen and red deer heard roaring from the front door. Amazing! Glen Affric worth a visit. Also Drumnadrochit to see the castle and Nessie museums of course.

Had an enjoyable week's holiday. Cottage was cosy & relaxing. Saw the two woodpeckers at the table. Loads of great walks in the area. Just not enough time to do them all. Glen Nevis worth a visit, especially to see Ben Nevis- awesome!! We will be back to climb it next year.

Cottage is lovely and the location perfect. Visited lots of places - Cawdor Castle, Fort George, Cromarty and Culloden. Food very good at Glenmoriston Arms, Dores Inn and the seafront hotel at Cromarty.
