Woodlands Cottage is a delightful 'Hansel and Gretel' cottage tucked away in the middle of bluebell woods just one mile from the village of Invermoriston (shop/hotel) and 10 miles south of Drumnadrochit (shop/pub/Monster Museum) on the west side of Loch Ness in Inverness-shire.

Over 100-years old, standing alone within its 2 private acres of natural woodlands which stretch down to the banks of the River Moriston (fishing licences available), it is a cosy, former croft-cottage - mostly pine-lined, with a log fire and wood-burning stove - ideal for visitors who like to be on their own in beautiful surroundings (barbecue/garden furniture) yet within easy distance of a pub, hotel and shop.

Children love the freedom of the woods and the normally shallow river which gurgles peacefully between rocks and tiny islets down to Loch Ness, but parents are warned that the riverbank is unfenced and that the river can rise in wet weather.

About 30 minutes drive from Inverness and 45 minutes from Ben Nevis and Fort William, this is another good centre from which to visit the West Coast, Moray Firth and Skye.

Heating is by open-fire, wood-burning stove, electric-radiators and night-store heaters (£15 electricity INCLUDED weekly).  Bed-linen is INCLUDED and towels can be hired.  Pets are welcome BUT restricted to downstairs only.  No smoking is allowed within the cottage.  Wi-fi INCLUDED, subject to provider.

What a wonderful house and what a great garden. We have enjoyed every minute of our stay here and so have our dogs. Although we've been to Scotland many times, we've been again pleasantly surprised by its beauty and everything it has to offer. We leave with a sad heart but with beautiful memories.

We have had a wonderful week at this lovely cottage. Have seen some magnificent scenery. Drive to Skye fabulous. A great base for our holiday, lovely place to stay. Thank you for such a cosy well equipped cottage.

We have had a lovely holiday in a wonderful location, walking, white water rafting, canyoning, kayaking, dolphin and seal spotting, up in a gondola at Glen Coe, visiting the Loch Ness Centre, up to the beautiful beach at Nairn and visiting many places. Even our dog is exhausted, so this certainly has not been a restful holiday, but we have had great fun.

Found this second visit to Woodlands Cottage even better than the first. Well presented, spotless and very welcoming. Enjoyed a few BBQ's in the lovely garden. Watching the spotted woodpecker was also a highlight. Will definitely return again. The welcome from the keyholders was also a treat...couldn't do enough for us...10/10 for that.

Wonderful cottage, splendid surroundings. We really enjoyed our stay here. Visited the Loch Ness Experience in Drumnadrochit, Urquhart Castle, Inverness, Fort George and dolphin spotting. Did some great walks in Glen Affric and around the cottage. The cottage has everything we needed. Wonderful!

We had a lovely week in this wonderful cottage. The absolute quietness, no sounds except for the birds - marvellous! Two young deer came in one evening. Thank you for all of this!
