Idyllically situated with the beach (from which there are unlimited views across the Firth of Forth) to the front and the golf course to the rear, and just a few miles from the centre of Edinburgh by fast train, Driftwood is an attractive and comfortable holiday home and an ideal base for exploring this part of Scotland.

Standing in its own small fenced garden (patio area) it is double glazed and electrically heated and is simply but cosily furnished.  It has an open-plan living area, well-equipped kitchen area, shower room and double bedroom.

From Driftwood, there is an easy walk around the coast into nearby Dunbar (all facilities).  For more energetic walkers, the Southern Upland Way commences 8 miles away at Cockburnspath.  Apart from the Winterfield course behind the house, there are many excellent golf courses in the area, notably Luffness, and, of course, Muirfield itself.  Then you can finish off the day by visiting one of the gourmet restaurants which the area also boasts.

From the pretty resort of North Berwick, in the shadow of Berwick Law (14m) you can take boat trips to visit the seabird colonies on the Bass Rock.  Dramatic Tantallon Castle, and Dirleton Castle with its lovely gardens are both close by, while for longer trips you are not far from the Edinburgh Bypass and its feeder motorways, which will whisk you across the Forth Bridge to the Highlands or off to the west coast with minimum effort and delay.

Heating is by electricity (£10 INCLUDED).  Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED.  Pets are welcome by arrangement.  No smoking within the house.

What a lovely week! Started with a tour of Belhaven Brewery. Monday - Edinburgh old town. Tuesday New Town and Botanic Gardens Thursday - beach day (weather excellent). Friday - seabird Centre (early start and you get the place to yourself) Driftwood has everything you need and soaks up the sun giving a warm welcome at the end of the day. Good cafes and restaurants. Dunbar is a friendly place and the walking around here is great. Sad to leave but we'll be back
