Edinburgh is Scotland's elegant and historic Capital City which everyone should see, and how better to visit it than to stay in an elegant and historic house of great character that has survived centuries to grace the south side of Edinburgh just ten minutes drive from The Royal Mile, the Castle, St. Giles Cathedral, Holyrood Palace, theatres, shops, etc., and on a good bus-route.
Peffermill House, dating from 1636 is a Schedule 'A' Listed fortified tower-house, built solidly of stone, which was renovated and restored to its present outstanding condition some years ago. It stands quietly at the end of a private drive in its own 4 acres of magnificent gardens, part charming woodland and part beautifully tended formal parterres. Guests have full access to these and cannot fail to be delighted by the setting, and the attractive bowers and seating areas which are dotted around to catch the sun at all times of the day. It is very hard to believe that you can be in such a sylvan spot and yet be so close to the city centre.
Inside, it is, as would be expected, full of character, a very unique house which is as well-furnished and comfortable inside as its Virginia creeper-covered exterior is beautiful.
The owners (who occupy the main part of the house) offer the very attractive garden apartment (views of the gardens from every window) for rent, and it would be a unique and memorable experience to stay in this lovely house. Tenants have immediate access to, and use of, the gardens and grounds; and plenty of parking space.
Heating by wood burning stove and gas central-heating, bed linen and towels, are all INCLUDED. Pets may be allowed by special arrangement. No smoking within the house.
PLEASE NOTE: Special rents apply for this house for the weeks of the Edinburgh Tattoo and Festival, Christmas and New Year and are available on application.
