Whitmuir is a sporting Estate which lies between Melrose and Selkirk (all facilities, swimming pool) in the heart of Sir Walter Scott's romantic Border Country.  Though tucked away at the end of a quiet country road it is just a few minutes drive from both of these towns and from main roads north to Edinburgh and south to England.

Once one of the farm cottages, Knowpark stands looking out across an ancient sheep pasture of the same name, with wonderful open views to Rubislaw and the Cheviots.  It has its own enclosed grass garden and secure storage for cycles etc.  Once you are there, you may well find it hard to leave this little oasis of rural tranquillity.

The cottage itself has been beautifully modernised and equipped by its American owners. (The carpet in the sitting room was in fact brought all the way from the States!).  It is now bright, cosy and extremely comfortable, with modern central heating and an open fire in the sitting room.

This is a lovely part of the country for touring, walking or simply relaxing in its peace and tranquillity.  Walkers can take advantage of both the Southern Upland and St Cuthbert's Ways, there is riding at Ashkirk (10m) and many excellent golf courses within a 10 mile radius.  Fishing enthusiasts can obtain permits for the many trout lochans in the area, or, or for salmon on the mighty Tweed itself.

The Borders is an area rich in history and there are plenty of ruined abbeys, castles, keeps and stately homes to visit, including Scott's Abbotsford itself, which is only a few miles from the cottage.  Edinburgh is just over an hour's drive away.

Heating by oil-fired central heating and a starter pack of fuel for the open fire are INCLUDED. Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED.  Sorry, no smokers or pets, and parents are advised that the cottage is on a working farm where heavy machinery may sometimes be in operation.  Wireless Broadband is available (subject to provider).
