About two and a half miles 'over the moss' from the village of Acharacle (shops, hotels, café) on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, Allt Beithe Cottage stands at the end of its own private track, in a lovely open situation with the heather hills behind and wide vistas to the front. Looking west, there are breathtaking views to Kentra Bay and the isles of Eigg and Rum beyond, and of course the sunsets in this part of the world can be unforgettable.
This is a very genuine little house, traditional, stone-built, comfy and cosy and lovingly restored by its owners to make a delightful holiday home. It stands in its own large enclosed grass garden where children can play in safety, far from traffic (Parents of young children should note there is one small pond) and which is a haven for wildlife.
This is a place to relax and forget the cares of the world. The sands at Kentra Bay are just over a mile away, or you can pay a visit to the lighthouse at the very end of the Ardnamurchan peninsula (more superb sands at Sanna Bay with heart-stopping views across to the Small Isles). At nearby Kilchoan, you can take the ferry across to Tobermory. Or, by taking the road north towards Mallaig (36m, all facilities), you will come to the legendary silver sands of Morar (excellent 18 hole golf course at Traigh). From Mallaig itself, it is but a 20 minute ferry journey across to Skye, making a visit to that lovely island a perfectly feasible day trip. Or, for a true wilderness, you could take a trip across from Mallaig to lonely and unspoiled Knoydart.
There is a small shed at the rear of the croft where cycles etc. can be stored and there ids apayphone in the cottage.
