This delightful detached cottage is located approximately 3 miles from the village of Kilberry (Inn), on the west coast of Scotland, which over-looks the enchanting waters of the Sound of Jura.  Just a 20 minute drive east is the fishing village of Tarbert (all facilities) with the remains of its 13th century castle still looking out across the vast expanse of Loch Fyne.  Corrarie Cottage offers well designed, welcoming and very comfortable accommodation in profoundly evocative area of outstanding natural beauty.

Corrarie Cottage is an attractive modern property, built in traditional style, standing in its own half acre of safely fenced garden (furniture).  You can look out on to the stunning landscape surrounding the property and listen to the rushing water of the nearby small waterfall.  Forgetting the worries of everyday life will be effortless in these calm and tranquil surroundings!  The cottage's charming, picturesque exterior is mirrored by its eminently aesthetically pleasing interior, the large windows assuring a feeling of space and light throughout.  Decorated in an elegant fashion, it is perfect for a civilised get away with all the comforts of home, but the added advantages of an idyllic holiday location.

Knapdale is designated as a National Scenic Area, celebrated as one of Scotland's finest landscapes and there is so much beautiful countryside to discover right on the door step of Corrarie Cottage.  Visitors can follow the tumbling river, which runs past the cottage, downstream, across 3 fields, passing ancient standing stones, to the sandy shore of Loch Stornoway.  Here, at the water's edge, where otters and seals can frequently be seen, guests can admire the glorious panoramic views across the sea to the Isle of Islay.  The more intrepid can venture upstream from the cottage, to the ruined township of Baillidh or the fresh water lochs nestled in the hills beyond (fishing permits available).

If you venture a little further from the cottage you can experience the fine food served at the Kilberry Inn (open April-October) which featured in the Hairy Bikers BBC series "Food tour of Great Britain" (where, incidentally, they were beaten in a cook-off by its resident chef and owner!)   You can also view the late medieval Kilberry sculptured stones which are on display at the site of St Barr's Chapel near Kilberry castle just outside the village.

Tarbert, with its welcoming natural harbour, provides ferry links to Portvadie on the Cowal peninsula as well as from nearby Kennacraig to the isles of Islay and Jura (both islands are a must for whisky lovers!)  Drive 15 minutes more to the south and you can take a ferry from Claonaig to the Isle of Arran, where, among other things, you can appreciate the impressive castle ruins of Lochranza and sample the local tipple at the Isle of Arran Distillery (if a wee taster is not quite enough, it's not far to take a bottle back to the cottage and enjoy it beside the wood burning stove!)

Heating is by central heating (INCLUDED) and wood burner (starter pack INCLUDED).  Electricity is also INCLUDED in the rental.  Bed linen and towels can be hired.  Two well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement.  Sorry, there is no smoking in this property.  Water is from a private source which is regularly tested.  An extra child's bed is available on request.  Wi-Fi is available, subject to provider.

We have had a fabulous time. The weather was good. We were able to explore the whole of the Kintyre peninsula and as far north as Oban. A beautiful part of the UK. The cottage itself is great, very comfortable, and all you needed for self-catering was available. The garden superb for both the dogs. View fantastic.

Welcome to this stress-free zone - a place of utter tranquillity where we can recharge our batteries ... plenty of birdsong, burbling water, wild flowers and peace... Our idea of heaven! Thanks.

A lovely week, even if not entirely lucky with the weather - the sunny days more than made up for the rest. Beach: fantastic for swimming and flying kites, and spotting seals.

We've all enjoyed our stay in the cottage - it's been very relaxing. Both the cottage and the garden are fab. We loved the walk to the beach and along the rocks - we even saw three seals.
