Dairy Cottage on the family-owned Kilninver Estate (other cottages - The Old Manse The Old Kirk and Alpein Cottage)  just 8 miles south of Oban (all facilities) on the west coast of Scotland, is a typical traditional, picture-book Highland cottage which has been carefully restored and refurbished to provide cosy and comfortable accommodation.  With an open aspect across the quiet access road and a field to the head of the loch, just 5 minutes walk away, it is an  ideal hideaway for honeymooners or those who are simply looking for a tranquil retreat in an idyllic setting.

The Estate extends to 2,500 acres of very varied ground, with woodland, open hills and a sea-loch foreshore.  Visitors can enjoy delightful walks, watching the plentiful wildlife, salmon fishing (chargeable) on the River Euchar and fun trout fishing on two inland lochs (INCLUDED spring and autumn).  Water sports and pony trekking are also available nearby.

Dairy Cottage is a perfect base from which to explore the many attractions of this beautiful area.  The small island of Seil, with the picturesque little village of Easdale, approached by the 'Bridge over the Atlantic', is just four miles away.  In addition to shops, hotels, restaurants etc. Oban has a golf course, swimming pool, cinema, sandy beach at Ganavan, Sea Life Centre at Barcaldine (20m) and Rare Breeds Park.  From there too, there are also regular excursions by boat to the islands of Mull, Staffa, Iona, Lismore etc.  Just north of Oban at Benderloch, there is a superb beach at Tralee Bay (16m).  Continuing north towards Fort William, by Appin and Duror, the coastal road just gets lovelier and lovelier. Another worthwhile excursion, perhaps part of a round trip around Loch Awe, would take in the Hydro Electric Scheme at Cruachan, where visitors can go right into the heart of the mountain to see the underground Power Station.

In the other direction, there are the famous Arduaine Gardens (11m) and Lochgilphead (29m).  It is possible to wile away a very pleasant afternoon watching vessels negotiate the nearby Crinan Canal, which runs from Ardrishaig, just south of Lochgilphead, to Crinan and which allows sea going vessels to take a short cut from the Firth of Clyde and Loch Fyne to the Atlantic.

The cottage has a wood burning stove in the sitting room and there is additional heating by electric radiators and night storage heaters (electricity and logs INCLUDED).  Bed-linen and towels are INCLUDED.  There is a utility room, accessible only from outside, which houses a washing machine.  Pets are welcome by arrangement.

PLEASE NOTE - Dairy Cottage lets FRIDAY to FRIDAY

Fox party, West Yorkshire 25/06/2010

We had a fabulous week in Scotland. The weather was kind to us, and Dairy Cottage is just heavenly! We could not fault it, the wine and flowers waiting for us when we arrived were a nice touch, and the caretaker was very informative. Thanks again - we have no doubts that we shall be booking again at some time in the future; it may well be Dairy Cottage again.

Had a lovely Christmas and felt very at home. Lovely scenery. Hoping to come back in the summer to enjoy it properly.

A perfect cottage in a perfect location for a secluded, idyllic New Year getaway. Great walks, great weather, fantastic scenery. Thank you!

Williamson party, Isle of Islay 21/02/2009

The cottage has been perfect for us, with the hospitality and friendliness of our hosts to match. Our walks to the loch and to the trig point on Ben Mhor were brilliant. All good things come to an end too soon, but we both need to return.

Martin party, Stirlingshire 15/02/2009

Had a lovely stay for Valentines Day. Very romantic. Great cottage and location.

Archer party, Banffshire 09/10/2009

We have had a super time here. The weather has been very kind to us. Saw black grouse way over the hills to rear of cottage by Loch Charn, along with local roe deer. Had a great day on Mull - mobile fish and chip van in Tobermory well worth a visit! Especially great was Dairy Cottage. You really do think of everything - the wine and flowers were a really nice welcome. Thank you for a memorable holiday.

Arnold party, Kincardineshire 16/10/2009

After 30 years of holiday cottage holidays, this one is certaiinly in the top 3. Dairy Cottage is exceptional value and we've had the perfect autumnal weather for all our local walking. Do have a meal in EE-Usk in Oban!
