Kilninver is a country Estate comprising some 2,500 acres of hill country and woodlands on the shores of Loch Foechan, some 8 miles south of Oban on the lovely west coast of Scotland. Here, there are four very popular stone-built holiday cottages with views over the Loch to the islands of Kerrera and Mull.
One of these is The Old Manse, which, as its name suggests, once housed the local minister. It is now a snug and cosy holiday home with an open plan living area with wood burning stove to supplement the efficient electric heating. Double and single bedrooms and bathroom complete the comfortable accommodation which is ideal for up to three people. Well off the road, it stands quite high and the views which can be enjoyed from its windows and the surrounding grassy garden area (furniture) are second to none.
The Old Manse also has a garage housing table tennis and darts.
There are delightful walks to be enjoyed within the estate, with the chance to spot some of the abundant wildlife in the area. Tenants may also arrange salmon fishing on the River Euchar (charge) and fun trout fishing on two inland lochs.
Just 4 miles to the south is 'the only Bridge over the Atlantic' which leads to the picturesque island of Seil. Continuing south on the main road, you will come to famous Kilmartin Glen with its standing stones and 5,000 year old chambered cairn. Then on to Inveraray where the Castle and Jail may be visited and beyond to the Mull of Kintyre.
To the north, Oban has all facilities, sports centre, golf course etc and is the point of embarkation for many boat trips and ferries to numerous islands such as Mull, Staffa, Iona, Kerrera and Lismore.
Heating is by wood-burning stove, electric-radiators and night-store heaters (electricity and logs INCLUDED). Bed-linen and towels are INCLUDED. Pets are welcome under strict control.
