Tides Reach on Skye, is on Isle Ornsay Bay - 15 minutes drive south of the Skye Bridge and 15 minutes north of the car-ferry at Armadale. It is approximately 140 yards off the Camas Croise coast road, reached by a short steep private driveway leading to a parking space for two cars from which there is an easy footpath leading 100 yards to the cottage. The inability to take your car right to the door of the cottage and its superb position sitting alone just a few feet above the water's edge on the rocky shore of the bay affords the cottage a seclusion and sense of adventure but as luggage has to be carried along the path, it is not a suitable house for the infirm or very elderly. Deer, seals and the reclusive otter have often been seen from the cottage's conservatory.
A converted-croft cottage, it is within walking distance of the friendly Eilean Iarmain Hotel (well-known for its restaurant/bar meals and the ceilidh it often holds on Thursday nights) and it shares the panoramic views across to Isle Ornsay village and The Sound of Sleat from its pretty garden (furniture) and long comfortable conservatory/sitting-room with the oyster-catchers and herons whish visit the bay frequently. This whole Sleat area known as "The Garden of Skye" offers magnificent excursions by foot, car or bike, as well as boat trips from Armadale to the smaller islands and the ferry to The Road to the Isles. The nearest (largish) town is Broadford 9 miles north which has a selection of shops, restaurants and hotels.
Heating is by wood burning stove and oil central heating (included to the value of £20.00, any excess to be paid to the Caretaker on departure from the property). Bed-linen is INCLUDED and towels can be hired. Pets are welcome by arrangement. Sorry, no smoking in the cottage.
Also in the same area Barabhaig (sleeping 6)
