Applecross is a magical place which once upon a time has no road access whatsoever - everything came in by sea. Now, however, you can drive there over the spectacular mountain Pass of the Cattle, or following the winding road round the southern shore of Loch Torridon, where some of the oldest mountains in the world plunge into the sea. The heart of this idyllic village is the little row of cottages along the seashore, which have wonderful views across the Inner Sound to Raasay and Skye. One of these is the Old Post Office, which sits only a few yards from the pebble beach and sea, about a half-mile south of sandy Applecross Bay and only a couple of minutes walk from the village's one and only pub (bar meals) and post office/shop.
Next door to Tigh a Bhraden, this traditional old cottage has just been completely restored and refurbished by its new owners to a very high standard. Cosy and comfortable, with modern electric heating, it is a delightful base for walking, exploring, or simply relaxing and watching the amazing seascape at your door, or from the little seating area with furniture across the wee road and right on the sea front.
In summer, the village lanes are banked with wild orchids and iris, a striking contrast with the bleak mountain scenery of the road in. It's a place to slow down and forget your everyday cares, with additional therapy provided by beach and costal walks, or more challenging routes in the surrounding hills. Mountain expeditions and kayaking can be arranged in the village.
Electric heating, bed linen and towels are INCLUDED. Up to two pets are welcome by arrangement. Sorry, no smoking within the cottage.
