Aberdeenshire & Moray

Aberdeenshire and Moray cover a large area in the north-east of Scotland, lying to the south-east of Inverness.  The landscape varies dramatically from the long, sandy, dune-covered beaches on the coast, through rich farmland (home of the Aberdeen Angus beef cattle), to the stunning 1100-metre Grampian Mountains and beautiful valleys on its western fringes. There are many whisky distilleries in Speyside and Aberdeen, a bustling city with good transport connections with the rest of the UK, has a charming old university and a distinct architecture, many of the buildings being built from granite.  Aberdeen is a convenient base for exploring the wider region.  There are many historic, archaeological and other attractions, the most famous being Balmoral, the Royal Family's holiday residence on Deeside.   The area thus offers the visitor a wide variety of activities from which to choose.
