St Fillans is a delightful little village, now designated a conservation area, which fringes the road along the eastern end of beautiful Loch Earn in the heart of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

Overview

It is here that you will find The Haven, a detached cottage in traditional style, that is spacious and most beautifully presented.

A glass door from the front porch leads straight into the spacious living area, which is elegantly furnished and has a lovely warm and inviting feel. The seating area has plenty of comfortable seating around the open fire which keeps the place very cosy. Behind it is a large farmhouse dining table and stylish monochrome kitchen, which is well-equipped and boasts both a Rayburn (which powers the central heating) and a conventional cooker.

A short staircase leads up to a mezzanine level where there is a large, very comfortable king-size double bedroom with extensive mirrored wardrobes. There is also a bathroom with a bath and shower and a useful utility room.

Upstairs are two further bedrooms, a very large double (again king-size) and a family room with three single beds where, if any children in the party are all together in, they can have a great time! There is also a modern shower room on this level so all conveniences are catered for.

Outside there is a sunny decking area, off road parking for three cars at the back of the house and its own enclosed paddock that is an ideal place for children to play in safety.

Map & Local

As well as fronting on to the loch, the village has a shop/cafe (where fishing permits for the loch may also be obtained) and three hotels within walking distance, all serving excellent meals.

Within a five minute stroll is the St Fillans Golf Club, which welcomes visitors and has a small bistro attached to the clubhouse for good measure.

If you take the little road along the south side of the loch you will come upon some wonderful places for peaceful lochside picnics. There is also a splendid marina and Loch Earn is well known for its water sports - sailing, wind-surfing, waterskiing, etc. There are good walks along the loch, while those in search of something more challenging will find Ben Vorlich and Stuc a Chroin waiting for them on the south side.

With such a central position, you could hardly be better placed for touring. Just 6 miles to the east is the village of Comrie (with all facilities) and from there you can turn off into the hills via Glenlednock, with more lovely picnic places.

To the south from the other end of the Loch via Loch Lubnaig is Callander and the Trossachs and to the north west you can be on the west coast at Oban in under two hours. The little town of Killin, beside the Falls of Dochart, is another tourist honeypot. A round trip along Loch Tay to Kenmore and Aberfeldy, returning via the beautiful Sma' Glen and Crieff makes an excellent day out.

Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED. The first £20 of electricity INCLUDED with any additional usage payable by meter reading at the end of your stay. Heating is by gas central heating (first £20 INCLUDED with any additional payable at the end of your stay) and open fire (One bag of logs INCLUDED). Wifi is available subject to provider, at a charge of £10 per week (up to 20 GB). A maximum of 2 dogs are welcome at an additional charge (2 large, 2 medium or 2 small).
