Situated high on the hillside above the little village of Strathtay (shop, hotel) in Highland Pethshire, between Pitlochry and Aberfeldy, Taigh Fuirich translates as 'the place to stay', which really does sum it up very neatly indeed!

Originally a traditional old cottage in its own enclosed garden, it has now been extended and modernised to provide, well-appointed and truly delightful family accommodation.    Its peaceful and tranquil setting, with wonderful views across the valley from the upper windows, can be enjoyed in all weathers either from the sun-trap front garden (furniture) or the sun porch, while its south facing aspect means that the house is light and bright all day long.

The area has the advantage of being both easily accessible, just a short drive off the main A9 Perth-Inverness road and one of the most scenically attractive areas of Scotland, with its mix of Highland and Lowland right on the doorstep.  Pitlochry (10miles, all facilities) is an attractive town, with good shops and eating places and of course its famous Festival Theatre.  In the other direction is Aberfeldy (6m) another pretty town, where the Birks offer lovely woodland walks and tumbling waterfalls.  A few miles further on and you will reach Kenmore and Loch Tay, famous for its water sports and the Iron Age Crannog which has been reconstructed there.  At the far end is Killin whence you can proceed within a couple of hours, to Oban and the west coast.  Or strike north by Tummel and Loch Rannoch into one of the most wild and beautiful areas you could imagine

Walkers will find much to delight and challenge them near to the cottage.  Bens Vrackie, and Chonzie and Schiehallion, the 'fairy mountain', are all nearby, with many other lower level walks to choose from too.  The Tay at Grandtully, which more or less merges with Strathtay, is one of the prime stretches of water in Scotland for kayaking.    Wildlife lovers will enjoy the many birds which visit the cottage garden, and should be able to spot deer, buzzards or even eagles in the surrounding hills.  The Osprey hide at Loch of the Lowes near Dunkeld is also sure to delight.

Heating is by electricity (first £15 INCLUDED) and open fire.  Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED.  Sorry, no pets and smoking is not permitted within the cottage.
