Set on the edge of the pretty village of Braemar, in the heart of Royal Deeside, about 57 miles east of Aberdeen and 47 miles north of Perth, Cranford Cottage is a delightful, detached holiday cottage which stands alongside the owner's house, yet retains a high degree of privacy.

Freshly whitewashed, with the corrugated iron roof so typical of  traditional cottages of this type, it has been completely renovated inside to provide the most comfortable and cosy accommodation you could imagine.  There is a spacious and well equipped kitchen/diner, a snug sitting room, and a double bedroom with en suite shower room.  Outside, there is a secluded and hedged seating area (BBQ).  It is a charming base from which to explore the many attractions of this most beautiful area.

Shops, hotels and restaurants are just a few minutes walk away in the village itself.  There are excellent walks and cycle trails which can be accessed right from the door and Braemar is a superb centre for touring.  The Queen's summer residence at Balmoral is 10 miles along the road, Braemar Castle is just a short walk out of the village in that direction and there are numerous other castles, stately homes and gardens to be visited in the area.  Fishermen may care to try their luck in the famous River Dee (permits required), golfers will find an attractive course just outside the village, while the ski area of the Lecht is about 23 miles distant.  Those interested in serious walking may wish to scale Lochnagar or one of the Grampian peaks or just lose themselves for the day in the wonderful scenery of the surrounding glens.

Heading north towards Tomintoul you will find yourself on the Speyside Way and the Whisky Trail, with many distilleries where you can sample the wares (a non-drinking chauffeur is highly recommended on this expedition!).  Further afield, Aberdeen itself is well worth a visit, or you can head further north to the Moray Coast.

Heating by electricity and wood burning stove.  Bed linen, towels, and £15 of electricity are all INCLUDED.  Provisions can be ordered for your arrival.   Pets are welcome by arrangement.    Smoking is not permitted within the house.  Wi-Fi and use of laptop should be available in owner's guest lounge, subject to provider.

Lovely, clean, well appointed cottage. Thanks for the hospitable welcome and letting us bring the dog. A great base for exploring the area and we will be back.

Really enjoyed our 10th visit to Braemar at New Year and will be back again next year. Cranford was nice and cosy and we loved the Xmas tree and lights. Such a pity we have to cram everything into one week.

Very restful, comfortable cottage. Lovely walks. Saw red deer and two red squirrels. Brilliant colours in the trees. Perfect holiday. Thank you!!
