15-Jun-2025	West Cottage at Bemersyde GT2 (overall)	We had a superb holiday in West Cottage on the Bemersyde Estate near Melrose. The area surrounding the cottage and the location of the cottage itself are exceptional. Look out for the stunning view from the final bend before arriving at Bemersyde – the beautiful Eildon Hills and the valley below.( Be sure to visit the impressive Wallace Statue just close by) On arrival we received a warm welcome from Margaret who was always very helpful in providing any information we needed – and we succumbed to the temptation of her array of jams, chutneys etc made from the produce of Bemersyde’s kitchen garden – we were spoilt for choice. West Cottage itself was the perfect accommodation for our party – 2 adults and a dog. Spotlessly clean, every aspect was furnished to a very high standard e.g. beautiful wooden doors , under floor heating, excellent kitchen appliances, comfortable beds, a fantastic shower, excellent WiFi . Everything you could possibly need had been carefully thought of. The attention to detail was much appreciated e.g. hand wash, soap, shower gel were provided – and even an electric blanket if needed. The cottage was very cosy and comfortable. The estate grounds were, as a previous a visitor commented – “a slice of heaven “ If peace and quiet are what you are looking for , you will find these in abundance at Bemersyde. The full use of the grounds and gardens were the icing on the cake. Morning and evening dog walks were a joy – lovely gardens, the beautiful old mansion house, birds singing and wildlife in abundance ( we regularly glimpsed the shy badgers and deer) and yet another spectacular view of the Eildon Hills just “ at the bottom of the garden “ were all memorable. There is much to see and do in the area – Melrose( delightful) , Abbotsford, Mellerstain, Dryburgh Abbey, Harestanes ,Kelso and Floors Castle to name but a few. However, we did not need to venture far from West Cottage to enjoy local walks and Scott’s view just up the road . A visit to the Bemersyde estate and West Cottage offers everything you need to rest, relax and unwind – and we cannot wait to make a return visit. Thank you
