Overview

For anyone seeking a slice of Scottish paradise with sandy beaches and awe-inspiring scenery, look no further than Brightwater Cottage, near the shores of Loch Gairloch overlooking the Torridon Mountains and the Isle of Skye.

Situated just one mile from one of Wester Ross’s most popular villages, Gairloch, this stunning three-bedroom cottage is aptly named – boasting a premium location just metres from the sea, with dazzling bay views.

This large house is impressive in both its layout and style, with airy rooms all boasting the clean and cosy appeal of Scandinavian design, with an emphasis on space to relax or celebrate – complete with a magnificent decking area.

On the ground floor of this immaculate cottage sits a large and striking sitting, dining and kitchen area, with considerable space given to the latter. With patio doors overlooking the bay, large couches, a kitchen island and dining table, it certainly is the heart of the house. And there is even a second sitting room across the hallway, complete with an amazing view.

The first floor also features a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, along with a toilet.

Upstairs, the cottage’s high standard of décor continues throughout its six-bed accommodation, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms all as tasteful, as they are welcoming. A roomy double bedroom boasts an ensuite with a sea view, whilst another double bedroom also looks out over the water. There is also an attractive twin bedroom, a separate family bathroom, and small reading area on the landing.

Within walking distance of Gairloch’s shops, restaurants and pubs, Brightwater Cottage sits above a large bay in a tranquil setting only 250 metres from the watersedge, with a large parking area at the rear, and a big garden with patio area to the front – the perfect spot to soak-up stunning views of the Isle of Skye and the mountains of Torridon.

With its prime location in a picturesque part of the north west Highlands, Brightwater Cottage will provide an unforgettable base from which to enjoy the many sights and adventures on offer at this tourist beauty spot.

Map & Local

With breathtaking views over the Minch to Raasay, Skye and the Outer Hebrides, Gairloch is one of most picturesque villages in the Highlands and a fantastic place to visit and explore.

Situated on the shore of Loch Gairloch amongst the spectacular scenery of Wester Ross, it is a popular tourist destination that offers a wealth of experiences and activities.

And despite only being a small village, with a population of around 750, it is a hub for those that love water sports, boat trips, wildlife, mountain climbing, fishing, or just wandering along one of the many sandy beaches. Big Sand Beach and Red Point Beach are especially popular, and a beautiful beach in Gairloch is accessible along wooden boardwalks.

Gairloch is also home to a golf course, a museum, several hotels, a variety of shops, takeaway restaurants, a community centre, leisure centre with sports facilities, a canoe and kayak centre, and a marine life centre with cruises, and Badachro Distillery, to name only a few of its attractions.

The area also has plenty rocky coastline to explore, and Gairloch and The Minch provide habitat for a diverse range of marine life, from whales, dolphins, porpoise and seals, to numerous seabirds, basking sharks, and even the occasional leatherback turtle and walrus.

Heading out of Gairloch, the road heads north to Poolewe, Aultbea and Laide, all with their own beaches and attractions. The world-famous Inverewe Garden and Estate at nearby Poolewe is well-worth a visit, where amazing species grow, aided by the effects of the Gulf Stream, children can explore, and visitors can look out for Scotland’s ‘Big 5’ species – red squirrels, red deer, otters, seals and golden eagles. Wild Ewe Safaris can also be found at Poolewe, and Aultbea is home to the Russian Arctic Convoy Museum.

Gairloch is 41 miles from the nearest airport, located in Inverness, which is the most popular option despite being 57 miles away. The nearest train station is 20 miles away in Achnahellach. Edinburgh is 155 miles from Gairloch.

Anyone choosing to visit Gairloch is promised a superb location rich in nature and culture, and will be spoiled for choice for things to do, and memories to be make.
