The Owl House is an inviting, handcrafted wooden lodge tucked away in a private woodland setting, with the added bonus of a luxurious, outdoor hot tub in its grounds. It offers the best of both worlds with a tranquil rural setting that is combined with easy access to picturesque St Andrews (3.5 miles) in Fife.

Newly built and beautifully put together with both comfort and style in mind, the lodge is open plan with a wood-burning stove at its heart keeping it nice and cosy. The sleeping, cooking and romantic dining areas are all in together and the room is kept light and bright by sliding glass doors that open up to the deck outside where the hot tub sits.
As well as the modern shower room with its large walk-in shower there is also a free standing, double-ended copper bathtub in the main living area that is absolutely perfect for a long, relaxing soak.
The south-facing decking outside creates the ideal spot to sit and admire the scenery and the icing on the cake is surely the hot tub that has been positioned to make the most of the expansive view of the surrounding fields. What better way place to enjoy a drink in the evening?
There are walks to be had straight from the doorstep as well as the chance to join the Fife Pilgrim’s Way walking route that passes right by the house.
Ceres (4.5 miles) has a few small shops and supermarket supplies can be picked up from one of the nearby supermarkets. For a very special meal out the Michelin-star Peat Inn Restaurant (3 miles) is only a short drive away.
It is also less than 10 minutes’ drive to St Andrews that is known for its university (the oldest in Scotland) and as the ‘home of golf’ due to its world-famous golf courses. The town has a choice of three attractive sandy beaches with the 2 mile stretch at West Sands being a particular draw.
One of the historic sights of St Andrews are the ruins of 13th century St Andrews Castle that sits in a dramatic clifftop setting. It is interesting to picture it in its former glory during a walk around the site and the grim Bottle Dungeon that prisoners were once lowered into is certainly worth seeing.
Spend an afternoon at Scotland’s Secret Bunker (11 miles) that sits 100 feet underground beneath a modest farmhouse and was kept secret for over 40 years! 24,000 square feet of accommodation was created in the 1950s to protect the government and key figures from the threat of nuclear attack. The exhibits are fascinating to explore and there is even has a resident bunker cat to look out for.
Over on the east coast the fishing village of Crail (14 miles) is a lovely place to stop for a look at the picturesque harbour or enjoy the typical seaside treat of fish and chips. Dotted further along the sunny coastline are the pretty coastal towns of Anstruther, Pittenweem and St Monans that are all worth visiting.
